Selanne and S. Koivu in trade deadline.

Hypothetically, Duck's are out of play off's. Selanne and Koivu want to go for a shot at the cup on another team.

Does these two have ANY value? The deal is take these two combined and it is purely rental for rest season.

Exit Dose 02-02-2013 11:47 AM

Murray didn't ask them to waive at the last deadline. I don't see anything changing this time around.

PAZ 02-02-2013 12:05 PM

If Selanne is thinking about retiring after this year, any chance he would ask for a trade for one last cup run?

Dellstrom 02-02-2013 12:08 PM

With the 3rd line ****storm on our team, I'm curious to see what it would take to get him on the Bruins. He's a veteran presence which has always been a good thing on the Bruins, would likely have good chemistry with Peverley and Kelly which is a great 3rd line already, and obviously still has a lot of skill... We could help him have a better chance to win and he could sure as hell help us.

Not sure what you'd want, obviously we wouldn't go crazy by any means necessary.

SEALBound 02-02-2013 12:51 PM

Selanne + Koivu

For

Kuntiz + Kennedy + Maatta or 2nd.

Emerald Duck 02-02-2013 01:15 PM

We have this discussion every year with Teemu. This year as his "last year" (supposedly) is not any different.

Murray won't ask Teemu if he wants to get traded, and Teemu has repeatedly said that he has no desire to get moved at the trade deadline. Teemu won't be going anywhere.

Regarding Koivu, I haven't heard him speak about his desires if the OP scenario becomes true (and I wouldn't expect him to talk about it because he's too classy to do so). However, in the past he was not traded at the deadline, so I don't believe this year would be any different. He may try to come back next year as a UFA with another team, but he will likely finish this season with Anaheim.

Mystifo 02-02-2013 01:23 PM

What would of been an awesome move by Teemu is every year when he signed this "1 year deal" to have been dealt at the deadline then in the summer just resign with Anaheim. I mean think of all the picks he could of gotten the Ducks.

I wouldn't trade Selanne even if he asked for it. Selanne is a duck and will remain one at the end. And will be our first jersey to retire.

If were out of playoff race and he wants to retire next year and wanted to go to a competitor to try to win 1 more cup, i think mangement would do him that favor, they would prob even let him decide where he goes.

But selannes a class act and even if this team was utter crap i think he'd want to stay here and play, he really loves the team, the fans, and socal in general. He has his cup so all thats left to do is maybe chase down that 700 goal mark.

Saku isn't going to get that as a rental.

Kris Chreider 02-02-2013 04:16 PM

Haula's worth a low 2nd, he's as good if not better than fellow Gopher Zack Budish who was drafted in the 2nd. I'm pretty much giving you a 2nd+3rd for a rental Koivu.

Although he'll likely resign if he's playing with Mikko.

With the draft being restructured...I highly doubt you're gonna be seeing teams moving their 1sts.

DavidBL 02-02-2013 06:33 PM

In a world where Gaustad gets a first rounder I think Koivu can manage one...

Seth Rollins 02-02-2013 07:01 PM

Send Saku back to Montreal.

If he asked you would say "Hey thanks for all the loyalty but **** you"?

The restructure doesn't change anything for playoff teams.

Pretty much! I want his number to the rafters! He's a duck and will remain a duck

Kris Chreider 02-02-2013 07:36 PM

If you screwed him over like that you know he could just postpone retirement a year, go to UFA and piss you off with a 60PT season in say Pittsburgh and get a Cup ring.

IF he is moved, it doesn't mean he will cut all ties with the Ducks organization. For one, I know this wont be his last season, he'll be back next season. If it is, he could sign an honorary contract then retire. Tom Barrasso did this very thing. He didn't play his last 4 season with Pittsburgh, but then signed and retired a Penguin and now he's in our Ring of Fame.

Other than that, I do think given the chance, Selanne would like to make one more shot at the cup, even if it isn't with the Ducks.

I wouldn't trade Haula alone for S. Koivu.
