Clowe/Murray/2nd

No secret that the Sharks defense is stacked with guys that are good 2nd/3rd pairing defensemen, and the forward class is a little slow. This is not a fast team, we don't get by on speed, and that sometimes costs us. Murray and Clowe are 2 issues here, Murray because we already have 7 defensemen that are NHL-caliber WITHOUT him, and Clowe because we need more speedy forwards, and Clowe's production has gone downhill a bit, and he just doesn't have much chemistry with the top-6 right now. Ideally, there would be two top-6 forwards coming back, or a first line forward coming back. Thoughts?

TheJuxtaposer 02-03-2013 01:51 AM

There is no way we get two 2nd line forwards or a first line forward.

Ideally we get a forward like Carl Hagelin for this package. But I wouldn't count on it.

Also, this thread has already been done.

Kennedy + Tangradi + 3rd

for

Murray + Clowe

Kunitz-Sid-Clowe
Boychuk-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Duper
GVA

Defense would be harder to say...but Murray would be excellent depth.

No thanks. I think Clowe can help us win the Cup more than Kennedy and Tangradi can. We don't really have a need anymore on the 3rd line, unless that player can score 15-20 goals.

If we do deal Murray and Clowe, I'm guessing they'll be dealt separately.

I wouldn't mind a couple of tweeners for that package, maybe plus a D/G prospect from the sharks end. Don't know where from, but

Marleau-Thornton-Pavs
Tweener-Couture-Havlat
Combination of Tweener 2, Handzus, Gomez, Sheppard
Odd man out-Desi-Burish

I dunno, to be honest I would be interested to see what would happen if TK was put with Couture. For some reason I see that working...

I think TK would work better on our third line than Dupuis but you guys need a quicker winger and we need a stop gap. Give some to get some I guess.

man oh man, looks like you didn't get the joke. the Sharks aren't trading Clowe for Kennedy+

BamaWing 02-03-2013 09:18 PM

Murray and Clowe would be perfect in Detroit. My question is would it be possible? We have plenty of fast skilled forwards. If Murray was right handed I'd overpay for it

KlattNazty 02-03-2013 09:32 PM

if colborne was brought in and they liked what he was providing I would move bozak and macarthur to the sharks.

So, you don't value Clowe at all based on this offer. He would be a very good fit in Pittsburgh. Murray, we don't need.

Kennedy is worth a fourth round pick at best; Tangradi has - value and a third round pick?

Beendair Donedat 02-03-2013 09:44 PM

I'd trade for Murray and Clowe in Montreal not the second round pick though.

I'd be willing to send Lars Eller and one of the Habs second round draft picks (Montreal's own).

Close?

What about convincing Moore to come out of retirement?

His wife died. I don't think he's interested in playing hockey. :shakehead

So, one of your whipping boys and a second? That doesn't get you Clowe.

I'm aware his wife died which is tragic. However, he has been a hockey player his entire life and in the right situation might still want to play.

Same recycled names from Edmonton fan ... Hemsky, MPV and Lander. Lander and MPS don't even get you Murray and a second.

His wife died literally two weeks before the season started. I'd assume he's not playing this year.

What use do we have of Lander? We don't have cap room for Hemsky.

Don't need Gunnarson at all.

Hemsky might be a good fit, but injuries are a concern.

Okay, what else would you be looking for?

BTW Eller isn't a whipping boy, he sat a couple of games under a new coach and played great upon returning. Therrien is making everyone accountable. I know San Jose is looking for forwards, what else would it take?

Maybe in the future, not this year, almost guaranteed.
