Primary Target

Thomas Vanek, the current leader in the NHL in points, has had quite the host start to the season. He's always been known as a proficient scorer and is now really picking up steam. He's also doing his best to justify the offer sheet Buffalo matched. The question is, can he stay on top of the scoring race? The centers in Pittsburgh are inclined to say no.

Red Hot Cat Of The Night

Peter Mueller, who has scored in 3 straight games, has been a catalyst to the Panthers offense.

LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

Fleischmann-Weiss-Vertseeg are maybe back together,
we might finally have a first line!

I will be there today! Hoping for a win! Sitting lower bowl close to the glass, will be cheering the boys on.

Let's Go Panthers!!!

PantherboyHTR 02-03-2013 06:37 AM

Was going to go to this game today, but work this morning doesn't allow that to happen.

Plus its Superbowl! Swear to baby Jesus I picked the Ravens to beat the 49'ers in pre-season. These kinds of bets only happen when no money is bet.

As for the hockey game, I have a feeling we might not see Miller today. He played Thurs against Boston, got lit up. He also played yesterday afternoon and got lit up by le Canadiens. Chances are we may see Enroth today.

Very pumped to have Weiss back. People were saying he looked frustrated the other practice when Dineen told him he won't be playing. Thats the kind of player I want on my team.

Therefore I pick Weiss to net one today.

freakstar 02-03-2013 06:58 AM

Looks like today is "America-Day" at my place. Hockey then Super Bowl.

We have to build on that last game, I thought we actually played pretty good. We were deadly in the faceoffs. Shore surely impressed me last game. Buffalo however, is a strong team. We can't rely on them having a bad day again.

4-2 Panthers!

PSLguy 02-03-2013 07:35 AM

Great work on the GDT, PR!

Looking forward to a solid 60 minutes by the Panthers this afternoon. Seeing how they played on Tuesday night has rekindled my belief that if this team of grinders works hard for the full game they can beat any team in the league.

This is the second game in a back-to-back for the Sabres so I hope the team takes advantage of this and plays strong from the first puck drop!

Let's go PANTHERS!. :handclap:

Boooooth10 02-03-2013 07:40 AM

Sulzer is still in the NHL? How is that possible?

jkscott 02-03-2013 08:09 AM

It would be pretty nice to see a win today as an appetizer to the Superbowl. Panthers 3-0.

I like these lines. Here's hoping Weiss channels his recent frustrations into some scoring and that our second line stays dangerous! Let's Go Panthers!

Good job PR as always on the GDT. Only things I noticed were you listed Regehr as on the IR but in the top pairing. I think I saw Leopold with Myers on the top pairing yesterday. Also, if John Scott is playing for the Sabres (heavyweight fighter who just took down Shawn Thornton of the B's last week) than I would expect us to want to have Parros in there as they match up pretty well (Scott is like 6'8" so he would actually be one of the few that would be bigger than Parros).

PanthersHockey1 02-03-2013 08:42 AM

if we have any shot at winning its containing their top line of pominville and vanek. When they have room to skate and maneuver the opponent will get burned.

Im going to say this one goes To OT 3-2 Panthers.

Catsfan7 02-03-2013 08:54 AM

I kind of want to see Parros in there in case Ott and Scott take any liberties, I just don't know who we'd scratch, finally something to look forward to.

Are we finally going to see a Parros sighting?

angry_treefrog 02-03-2013 09:21 AM

Now that they've dug themselves in a hole thats likely too deep, it's time for a winning streak.

Good point, I'd expect Parros to play, probably Smithson takes a seat, or Skille.

If Parros does play, and doesn't scrap Scott, I don't know what to think anymore.

ATF, every day you sum up the feelings of a typical long term Panther fan so well. Thank you.

Fixed up the Sabres defense based on their GDT. Sekera may not play so Brennan would I believe in his place.

I'm torn on this. While it'd be nice to finally see Parros do his business, who in the forward lineup actually deserves to sit? Skille and Matthias work their butts off. Smithson, while not flashy or a point getter, gets his job done perfectly. He wins faceoffs, smart defensively, and helps the PK.

Parros hasn't done anything to show his worth, albeit his ice time has been limited.

Agreed. Parros hasn't done a damn thing to be worth keeping in the lineup.

Ghoste 02-03-2013 11:44 AM

I would think Parros makes it into the lineup as well. We'll see.

This is torture.. I want to see guys rack up points but I also want Mac.

Good points, however, like I said, Buffalo has some goons. And no other forwards are deserving of a scratch, so this is tough. However, keeping him in the press box isnt going to allow him to show KD that he deserves to be out there.

jkscott 02-03-2013 12:10 PM

Ravens 27 - 49ers 10

FlaPnthrsPunk 02-03-2013 12:24 PM

I know this is finally a game where Parros may have someone step up the plate and challenge him, but we need scoring chances more than anything, so in my mind, I'd rather play Skille, Matthias, or Smithson.

The same play that we saw in the comeback of the 3rd period vs. the Jets needs to come back for a full 60 minutes today. The top line of the Sabres needs to be shut down or else we could have problems. Vanek's playing as good as anyone to start the season. I really hope we don't see Miller as he seems to own us. Since he was pulled yesterday against the Habs and didn't play a full game, I'd think it's a good possibility.

Awesome to FINALLY see Flash/Weiss/Versteeg for the first time this season!

It's sad that I'm looking more forward to the commercials later than the actual Super Bowl, but I'm neutral for both teams. I guess I might as well root for the Ravens for Ray Lewis's sake.

LETS GO PANTHERS!!! :handclap:

PSLguy 02-03-2013 12:41 PM

Watching the Penguins/Capitals game. It drives me a little crazy to see all those banners hanging in the Caps arena. I can't wait to see a bunch hanging in the BB&T Center (or whatever it will be called then)!
