Petrecki to AHL Worcester on conditioning loan

PollakOnSharks 11:01am via Web Save the trip. #SJSharks -- other than Burns -- not going on ice this a.m.. And Petrecki on loan to WOR for conditioning, stays on roster.

WorSharks just tweeted the transaction...

Barrie22 02-03-2013 03:04 PM

kind of weird

Is this just a sneaky way of getting Petrecki some playing time since they don't want him to get picked up in waivers?

Absolutely.

MarleauApologist 02-03-2013 03:32 PM

I don't want him in the NHL.

How long does this loan last?

Presuming it hasn't been changed in the new CBA, two weeks.

BTW, while on a conditioning loan a player's salary counts against the cap and he counts against the roster limit.

Okay, that's what I thought.

Yesterday I was listening to the Sharks podcast on NHL.com. They were talking about our prospects. If you are interested in our prospects, I highly recommend that you listen to it. Anyways, someone on there had mentioned that Coach Robinson has said that Petrecki is ready. I think I'll take his word for it.

Nighthock 02-03-2013 06:22 PM

how many of these conditioning stints are allowed?

Mind giving me a link?

We have an excess of NHL ready D, perhaps some of them are part of a package
heading out soon.

hohosaregood 02-03-2013 08:56 PM

Since they aren't risking just sending him down, it seems like they really want to keep Petrecki. So, I think that means someone else is probably gonna be traded. I don't know who but hopefully it's Murray since they're kinda similar. I could see maybe Irwin going though.

Usually a second one isn't questioned to heavily...I've never heard of a third.

I have a feeling someone is on the trade block and they are just stalling as long as possible, Petrecki is part of that. Especially if Robinson thinks he is 'ready' I have to think that means someone is gone, likely Murray.
