Top six power forward to Edmonton!?

What power forwards could Edmonton acquire in reality? The top six is marshmallow soft.

penner?

Return will be determined in large part by offer.

What's seriously available?

I don't really see any power forward available that would fit EDM's young core to be honest. Young power forwards are pretty tough to trade for. If they can get lucky and maybe sign Clowe in the off season but he's not really a long term solution. Maybe try to sign Horton also.

Something based around Colin Wilson & Ales Hemsky?

I wish. Montreal would never do that.

This probably makes the oilers the most injury prone top 6 in the NHL, but I'll take that and run.

Great! I would love to acquire the mercurial MPS and Klefbom who is a guaranteed Norris contender! The Oilers 2nd round pick is gravy as it would only be a couple picks off from a first rounder.

between repeating that subban's an awful awful locker room guy who makes teams explode and calling max injury prone, i have to ask: where do oilers fans go for their hockey-related news?

Maxpac's appendicitis injury was obviously hockey related. The 8 day recovery was painfully slow. If he had the heart if an Oiler he wouldn't have missed a shift...

Kington87 02-03-2013 10:21 PM

RJ Umberger anyone?!

The Preds need guys who will shoot and hit the net, not playmakers. There are plenty of playmakers on the team. Therefore this is a silly idea for Nashville.

Same situation, only the Jackets have fewer playmakers.

This is meant for your "Habs fan MaxPac tire-pumping thread", leave it out of here.

as for the OP, id rather try to sign Horton/Clowe in the off season or add a cheap 3rd-4th liner banger to muck it up.

You wouldn't trade RJ for a Hemsky? Oh I would.

Don't even play these cards on us. A very high portion of Oilers fans see Paajarvi as a future 3rd liner with good PK'ing abilities and Klefbom is hardly ever talked about here.

Last year was the first time RJ Umberger has missed games to injury in the past four seasons - his entire Blue Jackets career. He played 77 games.

In that same period, Hemsky has yet to MAKE IT to 77 games in a single season - his tops was 72 in 2008-2009 - and he's only exceeded that once in nine full NHL seasons (the year after the lockout). Umberger had more goals scored in 2009-2010, and more points scored in 2010-2011, than Hemsky had games played in either season. And they're one year apart in age - both roughly at the same respective points in their career arcs.

No, I wouldn't trade RJ for Hemsky.
