NBAPA next stop for Fehr?

http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=414986

Word today that NBAPA executive director Billy Hunter was put on indefinite leave following an investigation.

Seems like the kind of challenge Fehr would welcome.

Swarez 02-01-2013 02:41 PM

There new deal is 10 years long (not sure if there is any outs), so its 2021 before they talk again.

Fehr will be into his 70's...so not likely.

Agents floating Fehr as successor to Hunter

Fehr is going to try and ruin every sport before he retires.

danishh 02-04-2013 07:05 PM

the NBA opt-out is July 2017. He'll be 69 years old for that, and would have a year to negotiate to prevent a lockout there.

I still think he's too old and that this was his last labour battle, but who knows.

I'd think the NBA should be interested in bringing in brother/sidekick steve fehr though.

They're perfectly capable of doing that on their own.

Ernie 02-04-2013 07:16 PM

The NHL is totally ruined now.

algernon 02-04-2013 07:19 PM

Wut. No **** all up in this thread?
I'm still waiting for the bottom-line on his cost to the players during his NHLPA tenure. 3/4 billion? +??

Meanwhile the NHL continues the mess they created in Phoenix, moved Atlanta, and who knows what else is lurking under the ice.

Lars65 02-04-2013 07:27 PM

Fehr would be a good choice, in that I hear little complaints from his constituents, i.e. those he actually represented.

The 'problems' with the NHL are their problem, and are no better or worse than they ever were. Lockouts over guys. The PA and the league have lowered the rhetoric, can't you?

If you ignore the reasons given to necessitate a lockout. :)

edog37 02-04-2013 08:57 PM

this needs to happen. Let Fehr blow apart the NBA....

Hopefully the last time we see this guy's name in a thread title.

Hunter and union president Fisher at odds. Hunter has been suspended since Feb 1 due to results from investigation. And he's got some federal complications. NBA players heading to NBA ASG may make a final determination of his future.

Plot thickens

Is there word yet on what Hunter actually did to get the unceremonious kiss-off?

Are we talking Alan Eagleson territory, or what?

Primrose Everdeen 02-16-2013 05:17 PM

If Fehr goes and causes a bunch of lockouts in the NBA at least I wouldn't care.

mouser 02-16-2013 08:35 PM

The NBA just signed a 10 year CBA last season. Can't imagine Fehr would be around for their next CBA.

Maybe they want an experienced guy to help them get their crap together and stabilize after whatever mess Hunter may have caused?

Their opt-out is at six years.

Not sure the NBA can suck anymore than it already does.
