Cam Ward goes out of crease to play puck, covers it, Leafs get penalty.

What is wrong with these referees? Clear cut delay of game penalty by Ward and instead McClement gets penalty for Unsportsmanlike conduct...

Oh yeah and they score to take the lead on the PP. Stupid refs.

Quote:

63.2 Minor Penalty - A minor penalty shall be imposed on any player, including the goalkeeper, who holds, freezes or plays the puck with his stick, skates or body in such a manner as to deliberately cause a stoppage of play. With regard to a goalkeeper, this rule applies outside of his goal crease area.
.....
If a goalkeeper comes out of his crease to “cut down the angle” on a shot and after making the save covers the puck, this shall be legal. If the goalkeeper races out of his crease in an attempt to beat the attacking player to the puck and instead of playing the puck jumps on the puck causing a stoppage of play, this shall be a minor penalty for delay of game.

Leafs got the penalty for the snowshower afterwards. Not called often, but it's a penalty

Frank Garrett 02-04-2013 07:26 PM

LOL

The refs don't give a flying **** this year about what anybody thinks.

tarheelhockey 02-04-2013 07:26 PM

Yeah, snowing a goalie in the face for no reason is a legit penalty. Come on now.

Novak Djokovic 02-04-2013 07:27 PM

They got a penalty for something else.

Alchemy 02-04-2013 07:28 PM

He gave Ward a snow shower.

Milan the God* 02-04-2013 07:28 PM

They got the penalty for 'snowing' the goaltender. Not called often, but it can be called. Ironically, the Leafs got a powerplay against Montreal earlier in the season for this same incident.

He did it because Cam Ward committed a penalty, he's not allowed to play the puck out of the crease and then cover it.

Granted, I wish they'd call that DOG penalty more often. But you still can't snow a goalie just for the hell of it like that.

ClasslessGuy 02-04-2013 07:32 PM

Montreal's player got the same penalty in the home opener against the leafs...

That wasn't Snowing the Goalie... He tried to stop when he saw there was a bit of snow going at Ward he even adjusted the way he stopped.

It wasn't intentional at all BS call!

Well ****, if that's why he did it.......... never mind then, you'd think the ref would understand he was just handing out his own small vigilante justice.

Maybe McClement shouldn't snow the goalie?

Let him (McClement) retire and apply to become a ref.

Also, was he sure that there was no penalty on Ward?

If not, great way to possibly cancel a PP.

Cypher 02-04-2013 07:47 PM

Clearly Bettman has instructed the refs to make crappy calls all season long for punishment to the players/NHLPA for the lockout. :sarcasm:

CarvinSigX 02-04-2013 07:49 PM

In all fairness, Skinner deserved a penalty shot.

BostonBruins92 02-04-2013 07:50 PM

In all fairness Toronto deserved a goal . If they counted the goal , he wouldn't have got that breakaway

I guess kicking the puck in the net is now legal to ya.

Nope. Clearly kicked in.

Every call that's gone against the Leafs tonight was the right call. Not sure what the ACC crowd's booing about.

If he stops with his right foot forward, the snow goes off to Ward's side.

Curiously, he chose to put his left foot forward, right in Ward's face. What a strange decision.

CarvinSigX 02-04-2013 07:53 PM

I thought it was a good goal too...Until they showed the view from above. Couldn't be any clearer. Kick...No goal.

Also, exceptionally obvious knee-on-knee by Holzer.
