 very well done sir.

Love the long names that get cut off like the old gaming days.

Also Hainsey with the 6 orbiting pucks.

1st line: looks similar to how Noel uses LAL so expect to see them against Versteeg as much as possible... if it weren't for the Jet killer I'd say watch us beat them badly
2nd line: if we weren't the Jets and they didn't have Versteeg, this is the line I'd be more scared of results-wise, I'm sure the kids can get beaten out though if they weren't semi-sheltered... expect KJW to be matched here and *hopefully* beating them
3rd line: more scoring then our third line but it isn't dangerous, and far less zone possession
4th line: typical 4th scrubs getting beat in soft minutes... results and usage looks similar to our Stapleton line last season
1st pair: Campbell hasn't scored any points on 5v5 so maybe if we can keep him from the PP we can shut him down and take advantage of their poor possession
2nd pair: I think the coach has done a lot of D shuffling because Kulakov has FAR better stats than his partner and looks like he's been carrying the weight... he's dangerous 5v5
3rd pair: meh, losing to soft minutes... not afraid

KJWh: Possession is not where I'd like it to be. These guys are being out-chanced with not too different of usage as Kane's line last season. Let's see if this stays the same as Noel seemed to use KJWh against harder comp last time at home. Jokinen is scoring slowly at 5v5 (not on PP) which is usual for him but it's a bit more of a drop than normal. This should change in time as his team's OnIceSh% is decently low. All three are in the bottom 30 for OnIceSv%, AKA they are in the top30 for having the worst goaltending/luck in the league while their are on the ice... probably why Wheeler's +/- is so ugly.
LAL: Solid secondary scoring (even with Antro having similar scoring issues/patterns as Jokinen), Ladd is the only player in the black possession/out-chancing-wise in the top6, but they are facing stiff competition for match-ups.
PB-W/S This line was taking secondary tough match-ups until Scheifele or Wellwood was placed on. Noel likes to hide these two a lot from tough minutes. It's no surprise as they are in the black as all 4 are in the Jets' top 5 forwards for possession (order: Wellwood, Burmistrov, Ponikarovsky, Ladd, Scheifele). Side note: unsure if Welly or Scheif is in so I averaged their results (which hurts the scoring due to Scheif). Not much support scoring here but the two regular members (P+B) have had the least offensive luck (OnIceSh%) on the team other than Wright (Jets' have yet to score with him on the ice), so Burmi and Poni may have a 5v5 point or two coming their way soon too (as does Antro and Jokinen).
WST: Their Corsi is a value of 3 (ie: 3 scoring chances per 60 mins) better than GST was, and although it's hard with their OZS (Slater is at 27%) their match-ups are much lighter than GST ever was, as they are being used as energy line and take Dzone starts to push up the scoring lines instead of Dzone shutdown, so I would like a bit more improvement.
Enstrom-Hainsey: Poor Enstrom... an elite #2 now being paired with a fringe-to-average #4... being the only two true top4 guys left Noel has attempted to shelter BOTH the bottom 4, which means Enstrom and Hainsey are being bent over, used and abused... and it's starting to show... put it this way, last season Enstrom was 14th in the league (irregardless of usage) for out-chancing opponents, now he's 138/232... Buff + Bogo get back soon.
Stuart-Redmond: Stuart has been Redmond's most often partner with 17 mins, and 11 mins to Hainsey when Postma was moved with Enstrom (out of his total 33 mins of 5v5 time). Redmond has been sheltered "less" overall than Postma and has been posting better results possession-wise, but his partner hasn't really been Clitsome... I think I'd be fine with Redmond on the second pair with Hainsey once Byfuglien returns and until Bogosian is back.
Clitsome-Postma: We already know the story here: both sheltered similarly, Postma = better offensively AND (semi-surprisingly) defensively. It's worth noting that if you remove all the D with only 1-2 games on their belt or with ridiculous OnIceSh% of >17% (so their team is scoring at unsustainable shooting percentage), both Enstrom and Postma are in the top 10 for 5v5 points/min.

Tips for game:
Pavelec post north of 0.9 sv% + stay out of box (due to fear of the first part) = Jets' get a point every game (so far)

Couch Coach
If I was Noel...
1) I'd maybe try spreading the match-ups a bit more. Give the PBW/S line a bit tougher stuff, they should be able to handle it
2) Postma is doing well offensively and Redmond is doing well defensively... While neither are nearly as good as Byfuglien or Bogosian in their respective areas, maybe try them in those placements, but not tilt the match-ups as much as last season (but OZS are fine to be similar).. so:
Enstrom-Postma
Hainsey-Redmond
Stuart-Clitsome
Vet on each line... spread out the match-ups but give a bit more to the first two.

Great GDT.

Just an absolute work of art. Every time I think we have a full roster of expert GDT makers someone else pops up.

It goes without saying, a win is critical. I really want that roadtrip to be a hiccup, a learning opportunity, but I just have a feeling of dread about this team.

Either way, I will be cheering the guys on.

GO JETS GO!!!

Amazing GDT!

Go Jets Go

TroubaFan1 02-05-2013 12:41 AM

Lets hope this game is alot better than the one in Florida. Jets win this one 4-2. Go Jets Go!

ps241 02-05-2013 12:46 AM

I am back from the Dominican where we have been 1-5 in the last two years of my visits. This past week was on me so I am hoping we bounce back Tuesday night at the MTS centre.

Lynk 02-05-2013 01:00 AM

Annnnnyways..

6 goals.. Blah blah, win by a larger amount than most etc...

Hainsey, Ron.. Jets victory... you know the rest.

Terror91 02-05-2013 01:17 AM

Hey guys, curious on when Anthony Peluso is gonna play?

Claimed from the Blues which ticked me off, but since the jets are my second favorite team, its not to bad. Just want to see him play.

sully1410 02-05-2013 01:19 AM

So back to the power play...

In our last three losses we were exactly 3-13 on our PP.

So 23percent right? No. Two of those goals came in the third period of the Tampa game when the team finally decided to show up.

The Montreal game we were 1 for 6. Florida, we were 0 for 3(close game until the third), against the Isles(a game that was nearly lost) we were only 1 for 5. In the games that we won, Pittsburgh and Washington, the Jets were 1 for 2 and 2 for 5 respectively.

Boston(loss), was 0-4. If we converted one of those into a goal, that game would have won. In the Ottawa game we were 1 for 6.

My point is...our pp is good in the games that the team played well in...and absolutely dismal in the games that we didn't.

I know that the PK and penalties is the biggest reason why the team lost those other games, but the coaching staff cannot over look this area of the game as well. It's not good or bad, it's good when we win or play well in the final period, but it's awful when we lose. It's an area of the game that needs to be consistently good.

IMHO

PP: has been combo of slightly lucky plus Postma and Byfuglien are great offensive weapons... we don't enter the zone very well or sustain pressure or get enough pucks to the net (26th in league SF/60 for 5v4). It's "worked out" so far, but it may fall dramatically if things don't improve.

PK: I honestly thought that player-wise the PK wasn't bad the last two... They were a lot more aggressive while still keeping the shots few and not very threatening when you think how much TOI they spent on the PK. We haven't been "good" though either as we're 22nd in 4v5 SA/60 and 18th in 3v5 SA/60 (some teams haven't really had much or any 3v5 time)... problem is we have the 2nd worst 4v5 SV% (0.733) and the worst 3v5 SV% (at .500!!! AKA letting in every second shot!!)...
to be honest I do blame Pav's and Montoya a bit for that... but even they can't sustainably be that bad forever... right? (starts praying)

That thought had just come to me, about the shooting percentage.

From my observation, alot of the goals come off a failed clear by the Jets. However Pavelec NEEDS to be better. He just does. He needs to be better at reading the play. He needs to be better at controlling his rebounds. He needs to have a better glove hand.

He just needs to be better. Maybe they'll give Montoya a start. I'd like to see more from him.

Agreed 100%.
I'd like to see more from both.
I don't expect them to carry a team with a decimated D core, but I'd still like them to... or at least not be an additional problem even if they aren't the "solution"

WPGNYRFan 02-05-2013 02:23 AM

If you press reset a lot really quickly you can glitch the game, so I'm predicting a 47 - ~ win for the Jets.

I'm a negative s.o.b. Ugh.

Please win tonight.

Great GDT! Love the Jokinen burger and the 6-puck Hainsey.

Just win, Jets. You're better than what you showed on the last road trip.

Go :jets Go!

King Woodballs 02-05-2013 05:36 AM

hahah great job on the GDT!

love the ice hockey! still play it every now and then on my wii

classic cliche line.... must win tonight.

SensibleGuy 02-05-2013 06:23 AM

Hoping for some serious bounce back tonight from our Winnipeg Jets. A feeling of dread ways heavily upon me though. :( I'm looking for the Kane-Joki-Wheels line to create some mayhem in a positive way. They've been pretty invisible for a couple games.

GO JETS GO!

You just put the final nail in your sand in the toes, drink in hand, bikini watching surf sitting ways. In the famous words of the soup nazi....NO VACATION FOR YOU

Great GDT Kent. Hey Panthers Welcome to South East Division weather

KingBogo 02-05-2013 06:48 AM

Great GDT. I will be there, but I'm a little worried about tonight we are just so vulnerable on the back end without Buff and Bogo. Time for Pavs to play like a #1 goalie.
