Best of luck to him.

We claimed someone?! I must be dreaming.

Anyone mind sharing a scouting report on this guy?

TheKingSlayer 02-05-2013 11:10 AM

Kid should finally get a real shot at playing. Go Colorado Go!

In Montreal he was the type of player that fit into the category of "not good enough to be in the top 6, too good to waste in the bottom 6," which is why he spent a lot of time as a 13th forward in Montreal. He also spent a lot of time in Hamilton and did well for them, going at a PPG pace at one point. He'll get his chance with the Avs and I wish him the best. Hopefully he tears it up for you guys.

We have 4 top 6/9 guys out with injury, we have more then enough room for him. If anyone else wants to put some decent players on waivers, we still have 3 more spots to fill up.

Blind Gardien 02-05-2013 11:16 AM

Good for him. I feel like he at least needed a change in scenery, and it sounds like Colorado was a good place at present with some of their injury problems. Palushaj hasn't seemed like a guy who could stick playing 4th line minutes and getting shuffled all over the place, anyway. Whether he can do anything with a bigger opportunity, who knows. He sure didn't look good for Hamilton this year either, but he was much much better in past seasons in the AHL.

I don't find that he's very involved in the game defensively or physically. He has a mix of general offensive skills, but nothing that stands out. Usually that translates to "career minor leaguer" after enough changes of scenery have occurred to test it out.

It's kind of a tough spot for him to make the most of a change of scenery right now, though, with a weak start to the season and coming off injury. A quick conditioning assignment to Lake Erie would probably make sense. :dunno:

You can always convert Tomas Kaberle into a forward if your interested :naughty:

Anyways best of luck to Aaron in Colorado

Schalkenullvier* 02-05-2013 11:18 AM

Habs Hotel will be disappointed he can't put him into minor trade proposals anymore

habs03 02-05-2013 11:19 AM

Good hockey IQ, has some skill but issue is size, not so much height, he is 5'11, but weight, doesn't seem to have much muscle, noticed that he got knocked off the puck easily in the NHL.

Garth Snow is livid again, for passing by this accidently :sarcasm:

Honestly, I would take Kaberle on the Avs fairly quickly if I could.

MasterDecoy 02-05-2013 11:24 AM

So true!!!!

Mouse21* 02-05-2013 11:30 AM

yay one less grinder brought up just to play out of position for no reason.

Aaron will fit right in, Sacco will put him on the penalty kill ASAP.

Beendair Donedat 02-05-2013 11:39 AM

Take Kaberle too! A 3rd or 4th rounder would be great in exchange.

Tell ya what, let's swap Kaberle and Hunwick. Same term, less dollars for you guys.

We'll thank you later.

Based on how Montreal fans have been talking about him for the better part of last season and this season, I would imagine that it would have to be a "We'll pay YOU" scenario.

Like Kaberle + 5th/6th Rd

for

7th Round.

Keep in mind, I'm only joking

Pual Statsny 02-05-2013 11:53 AM

It'd be nice to see him get a shot with Sgarbossa or Stastny...I don't understand the idea of calling up Sgarbossa just to put him with McLeod and Bordeleau with guys like Malone in the system, and Stastny needs some help with Jones out.

Drij 02-05-2013 11:53 AM

yay I guess...

MarkovsKnee 02-05-2013 11:56 AM

Thought someone would pick him up. I'll be interested to see how he does with a full-time role. Something he could never really get in Montreal. He is an elusive skater and has soft hands for passing. Not much of a goal scorer though, and he's on the small side. Still, he showed a good work ethic in Montreal and exhibited a good hockey IQ. Good luck Aaron. Hamilton misses you already.
