Pens eyeing Kulemin

TFP is reporting the pens are eyeing Kulemin there is no mention as to what they would but I would rhink Nonis would be interested in Sutter as at 6-3 he addresses the issue of size up the middle I am also aware the pens have a couple of promising D prospects but with Gardiner, Reilly Percy, Finn, Blacker etc Leafs are loaded at that position .

Rumor makes sense as Malkin and Kulemin played together in the KHL and tore it up. Is there a deal here if so what is it?

not for Sutter. why would they trade their third line center that they just acquired from trading Staal?

to be fair, though, not sure what the Pens would have to give up for Kulemin. i highly doubt it's Sutter.

MillarWithASave 02-06-2013 04:23 PM

The fourth period is decent when it comes to reporting news, but their rumors are terrible.

Mansfield 02-06-2013 04:24 PM

I'd be prepared to part with kuli for the right price, he's not untouchable. But we don't want a Dman, and the only pens forward who really interests me is sutter (outside of the obvious crosby/malkin/neal)

Dark Knight 02-06-2013 04:24 PM

I would absolutely love Brandon Sutter but Pittsburgh needs him after having given up Jordan Staal.

He'd be an ideal return for us but if another deal is to be made, Toronto would be interested in quality rather than quantity.

It doesn't matter if its a D-man, or a forward. Toronto is deep on D in the minors but if you get a chance to improve your talent, you do it regardless of position.

TorstenFrings 02-06-2013 04:25 PM

Ugh, this will never go away ever. Just make this deal happen already, so that I do not have to hear about how Malkin and Kulemin braid each others hair anymore.

No Sutter for you though. Sorry.

domaug* 02-06-2013 04:25 PM

where is everyone hearing Sutter and why does everyone think he's available?

blasted_Sabre 02-06-2013 04:27 PM

Start with a 1st.

Kulemin-Malkin-Neal will be one of the leagues best lines, better make it worth it for the Leafs to deal him.

The Pens could deal Sutter and go for a guy like Zubrus or Cullen at the deadline.

Jerkini 02-06-2013 04:28 PM

Why does Kulemin have to go to Pittsburgh. Why can't Malkin come to Toronto. :pout::pout:

maybe add grabo to?
we get sutter ++. :)

Flat Stanley 02-06-2013 04:29 PM

I don't think Shero would trade Sutter.

Like psupens said, it's hard to think of what the Pens would trade for Kulemin.

Sutter can't leave. Not an option.

They probably just looked at the Pens board and made up the rumor. His name has been floating around over there for the last couple years.

because Kulemin to Pittsburgh is a lot more doable in reality than Malkin to Toronto?

Big McLargehuge 02-06-2013 04:30 PM

Sutter is off the table.

I'd be happy with Sutter in return. We need an imposing, tough and physical 3rd line C. But I'll understand if Pittsburgh doesn't want that.

I doubt Cullen or Zubrus are available considering both teams are likely to make the playoffs. Zubrus's worth was apparent last season when he was a force for the Devils in the playoffs, especially in the two-way department.

Joe Morrow straight up would be our asking price then from Pittsburgh.

So, does Pittsburgh have to supply their own lube, or will New jersey, or Minnesota be kind enough to include it in the deal ?

Every one is getting Sutter from the OP, who even made it clear this was his own baseless speculation as opposed to TFPs baseless speculation. It`s rolling now, nothing you can do.

Really though: Center shop is closed, should have driven up in June, all out of stock now. Try the Avs.

then that's a gigantic no.

maybe the Leafs and Pens don't match up as well as i thought.

i said in the other Toronto-Pittsburgh thread that if i were in charge i'd consider something like Maatta + 2nd or something similar (perhaps Maatta + 2nd + Tangradi to clear a roster spot for when Niskanen comes off IR)

93gilmour93 02-06-2013 04:33 PM

Can't see it happening because sutter is the only player that would make sense for the leafs in return and if he isn't available to the leafs then neither is kulemin to the penguins.

Hologram 02-06-2013 04:34 PM

Both Kuli and Malkin are FA's after 2013-2014. Let the rumours begin. :sarcasm:

LilySmoov 02-06-2013 04:35 PM

Conditional 1st (condition being it's in the 20+ range) + B prospect.
Or maybe just a non-conditional 1st or a B+ prospect.

I want Toronto to blow it up, so I personally would have no interest in roster players.

I think he means dealing Sutter for something actually good and then replacing him by giving up a mid-late-ish pick for a 3C at the deadline. Or do I only hope that?

SERE 24 02-06-2013 04:36 PM

Wouldn't mind seeing Kulemin and Malkin together. Except when they play the Rangers.

Sidney the Kidney 02-06-2013 04:36 PM

I'm not sure what the Pens have available (being the key word) that the Leafs will want for Kulemin. Really, it will come down to either a prospect, a draft pick, or a current roster player that is expendable like a Kennedy, Jeffrey, or Tangradi.
