AslanRH 02-06-2013 11:04 PM

Deadweight? Most of the Sabres are deadweight

TYayo 02-06-2013 11:19 PM

Calgary...If there ever was a team that screamed rebuild to me its them...

They could look good in a few years with the pieces they'd get back from
Iggy Kipper Cammy Tanguay Bouwmeester Glencross Wideman trades..

I'd be quite surprised if they traded any of those players.

Look, I've been critical of Calgary for not rebuilding before, as well, but as far as this season goes, it's way too early for a Calgary rebuild, they're only 4 points out of a playoff spot (tonight) with 3 games in hand.

This.

Plus under Hartley the team has actually looked very good, if Kipper didn't come out with a slow start the Flames would likely be considered one of the early season surprises.

Which is why I am not worried about Irving, he showed he could do well at the NHL level last year with being hung out to dry in most of his starts, if the team continues playing well he won't have a problem putting up a few wins because his play last year was much better than Kipper started with this year.

Maybe it's just an outsiders view but I'd love to see them do a rebuild and get some high end youth on the team.
A Calgary Edmonton rivalry with both teams being super young and talented would be amazing to watch for years

they seem like they've just been owned by injuries to key guys. their lineup when healthy doesn't look bad to me.

Calgary will never re-build. That is obvious to me, Scratch them off the list.

If Columbus hasn't traded quality players before I don't see why they would now.

Washington... Meh maybe if they continue to tank, but no key players.

One of two trades could work between the Canucks and buf

1)

to VANCOUVER CANUCKS: Pominville, 3rd rd pick

to buf: Schneider, Gaunce, A Alberts, 5th rd pick

___

2)

to VANCOUVER CANUCKS: Stafford, Ott, 3rd pick

to buf Ebbett, Vandermeer, Reinprecht, 4th rd pick

They need to. The organization isn't going anywhere with them and the farm system is void of talent. Every one of those pieces can bring back a combo of young NHL ready players, nice prospects and picks. I think everyone in that group can fetch a nice return except Cammy. No one is going to pay six million and give up assets for him, especially the way he is playing. If they start slipping, I'd make deals.

Calgary: sure they are in last place but they've played the least amount of games. In fact they've played four less than the 8th place. Too early to tell for them.

Washington: they are in last place and unfortunately are one of the teams with the most games played. They've dug themselves quite a hole that I don't see them getting out of ATM.

Buffalo: they are floundering but Ruff has a knack for rallying the troops.

Columbus: I'd consider them out because of their standing, team and past history. Which is too bad because it's really a great place to see a hockey game.

Check back at the 15 game mark. LOL

Injuries are killing this team, being that its all top guys getting hurt, and the ROR thing is getting infuriating.
BUT
Unloading the depth Dmen and possibly putting Jones, Kobasew, etc out there too would be a nice way to free up some space to give our young guys some NHL playing time. Even if the injured come back, this is not a playoff team this year.

Fro 02-07-2013 10:16 AM

with Columbus' "reshaping" I could see guys like Umberger and Brassard made available...but other than that...not much unless its the right deal

Cullen Bohannon 02-07-2013 10:22 AM

Colorado needs to ship out the following:

Stastny
Jones
Kobasew
Hunwick
O'Brien
Zanon

The rest of the team can stick around, these guys are all just expendable and for the most part would be good depth guys for teams looking to make a deep playoff run.

You should probably look at the other teams needs instead of your wants.

Ask yourself, would you do this?

The Devils would love Stastny. How much would he cost?

I wonder if RJ would be open to coming home and resurrecting his career in Pittsburgh?

Agree with all of these, except that unless the return is a Top 3 DMan, or Lotto pick+, Stazz needs to stay at least until the O'Reilly situation is solved.

Stastny sucks, but he is going anywhere.
