All-time World All-stars?

What would the all-time non-North American all star team be? Let's assume Mikita's Canadian for this one.

Bondra
Bure
Fedorov
Fetisov
Firsov
Forsberg
Hasek
Jagr
Kasatanov
Kharlamov
Konstantinov
Krutov
Kurri
Larionov
Lidstrom
Loob
Makarov
Mikhailov
Mogilny
Naslund
Nilsson
Ozolinsh
Ruotsalainen
Salming
Selanne
Stastny
Stastny A
Sundin
Tikkanen
Tretiak
Vasiliev
Zubov

and I'm sure we can add a few others still playing like Datsyuk or Lundqvist or Chara to the list? I put Jagr/Selanne in because they've nearly retired anyways.

When I say all-star, I mean in regards to the NHL but obviously you have to include some of those Russian players who we got to see play quite a bit in the 70s and were prominent for a long time (I know there are a few like Novy but they wernen't as prominent for as long).

Hedberg 02-07-2013 12:30 PM

Valeri Kharlamov - Peter Forsberg - Jaromir Jagr
Sergei Makarov- Sergei Fedorov - Jari Kurri

Nicklas Lidstrom - Viacheslav Fetisov
Borje Salming - Valeri Vasiliev
Zdeno Chara - Alexei Kasatonv
Jan Suchy

Malkin is effectively the most accomplished NHL European center. 2 Art Rosses, 1 Hart and 3 1st team all-stars make it very hard to beat out unless we want to jump into the Soviet days.

Had it been based on NHL accomplishments only then probably yes, however his career isnt over yet and even though he has accomplished alot so far I still personally have him behind atleast Fedorov (arguably Forsberg and Statsny) for Euro NHL centers. Tbh I personally wouldnt have him on an All-time World All-stars tean yet. Allthough if he keeps on playing without any major injuryconcerns for the next 5+ years he will most likely grab a top-6 position for me.

Mikhailov a center? :amazed:

He wasn't a great playmaker and he really had no faceoff ability. I'm sure he could've learned some, but he was always very much a winger.

VMBM 02-08-2013 02:13 AM

Kharlamov - Fedorov - Jagr
Ovechkin - Forsberg - Makarov
Firsov - Malkin - Selänne
Krutov - P. Stastny - Kurri
Spares: Mikhailov, Maltsev

Lidström - Fetisov
Chara - Salming
Vasiliev - Kasatonov
Pospisil

- For once, I tried to take the 'NHL aspect' into consideration
- The forwards are in the positions they (usually) played in, which means that the lineup doesn't necessarily have all the best players (RW being very much the deepest position)
- I value Krutov more than most people do (he was arguably the best winger in the world in 1986-87). Ditto for Kasatonov
- I didn't think about chemistry that much
- I like Pospisil more than Suchy

Going by the ATD:

Kharlamov - Fedorov - Jagr
Ovechkin - Forsberg - Kurri
Firsov - Stastny - Makarov
Zetterberg - Larionov - Mikhailov

Lidstrom - Fetisov
Salming - Vasiliev
Chara - Kasatonov

Hasek
Tretiak

Of course I would include guys like Selanne ahead of Zetterberg and try him at LW but whatever.

vadim sharifijanov 02-08-2013 10:45 AM

assuming we're talking entire careers not just international play, thinking about line/d combinations that would work best, and without giving it too much thought beyond that:

ovechkin stastny makarov
krutov forsberg bure
zetterberg fedorov kurri

lidstrom fetisov
vasiliev chara
kasatonov salming

hasek
tretiak

I'm a huge career guy but with that said Malkin has done enough in the NHL and international stage to cement his place as a top 12ish non NA player of all time IMO.
