$25 000 000 per year? That's awesome but crazy.

DennisReynolds 02-07-2013 01:55 PM

Baseball players make too much money.

Vamos Rafa 02-07-2013 01:58 PM

Hard to believe this guy just turned 27. He made his MLB debut when I was a freshman in college.

EDIT: He won't be 27 until April.

imayagainknowanson 02-07-2013 02:26 PM

too bad he's never going to take a ball in the playoffs.

kanuck87 02-07-2013 02:29 PM

A lot of money, but that's how much he means to the organization

TheDanceOfMaternity 02-07-2013 03:00 PM

As a Mariners fan, at least have had so many great players in our organization, albeit the worse managed one in sports.

I don't think you realize how much money MLB makes, especially when the new TV contracts kick in.

Small market teams are going to be bringing in more money than the Maple Leafs when it's all said and done.

LOL. $25 million is a 5-6 year contract for a lot of good NHL players. In MLB, that's only an annual salary.

only 500k more than Greinke?

makes me feel a little better about Verlander's upcoming deal

30 mil a year for him. It almost guarantees it.

Oscar Acosta 02-07-2013 04:13 PM

I wish I could throw a ball.

Machinehead 02-07-2013 04:42 PM

Poor Felix :(

Big Poppa Puck 02-07-2013 08:06 PM

Good for them for keeping him.

Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson, A-Rod, Edgar Martinez, Tino Martinez, Jay Buhner, Ichiro Suzuki..

Solid players have come and gone...how does this team not have at least 1 World Series yet..

KH1 02-07-2013 08:49 PM

I for one can't wait for the Yankees to pay through the nose for his decline years in 2020.

darko 02-07-2013 08:52 PM

Good for Mariners for keeping him. Good for Felix.

Bad news for Detroit (Verlander) and Dodgers (Kershaw). David Price will also get paid.

robert terwilliger 02-07-2013 08:55 PM

in anticipation for his extension in 2015, justin verlander bought the moon.

darko 02-07-2013 09:23 PM

I can see Verlander and Kershaw getting 200 mill. David Price I cant. I think he gets somewhere between Sabathia/Felix money.

Mariners future on the mound is bright with 1 of the best pitchers in the game and the big young trio (Walker, Hultzen, Paxton).

The team and its franchise player had talked about a framework of a deal that would pay $175 million over the next seven seasons.

But as of Sunday afternoon, sources say, the Mariners and Hernandez are not close to finishing an extension, because there are issues that the two sides are sorting through.

The elbow issue is perceived by at least one of the parties in the deal as being a possible impediment to the completion of the new contract.

Getting a guy like Felix locked up for his prime years is the first step to getting there.

I am another frustrated M's fan, but for the first time in like 10 years I feel positive about the direction of the organization.

LeBlondeDemon10 02-11-2013 05:37 PM

I'd give up my Brad Pitt good looks any day for an arm like the King's.

darko 02-11-2013 08:31 PM

I'd give up my current girlfriend Taylor Swift any day for an arm like King's.

Blackhawkswincup 02-12-2013 11:31 AM

Too much and too long

I have never been fan of giving a pitcher big money and big term

Too much risk
