Flames rebuilder 02-09-2013 11:25 AM

Cal-Was

Calgary-
Mike Green
Tom Wilson

Washington-
Mike Cammalleri
Tj Brodie

Shakes up both teams, helps Calgarys defense, Washingtons offense, value and cap should be close

fedfed 02-09-2013 11:28 AM

No. First and foremost because of age difference between Green and Cammalleri.
We're not going to re-build, it's clear. We'll grab one first-rounder or two if we're lucky and will build from wuthin.

Noori 02-09-2013 11:31 AM

I don't think so. Brodie is Calgary's third best defensemen after Bouwmeester and Wideman. He has established himself very quickly on Calgary's top four.

I don't think Washington does this either.

You're concerned about Cammy being 3 years older than Green?

fedfed 02-09-2013 11:53 AM

And forwards usually peak earlier than the D.

Flames rebuilder 02-09-2013 12:02 PM

That's fine how's the value?

Brodie has been better this year. Gio has had his head up his ass many times this season. There's a reason Brodie is a +5 and Giordano is a -5. Now, that may change going forward but thus far, Brodie has been dynamite with Wideman and Calgary's third best defensemen.

Yep I agree Gio has taken a step back and Brodie has taken a step forward.

Also I hate this deal for Calgary the last thing we need is another offensive defensemen, it was Alzner/Carlson for Cammy then we could talk.

ALI 02-09-2013 01:00 PM

NO from the flames.

caps4cup 02-09-2013 01:15 PM

I wouldn't trade Green for that package let alone adding a really good prospect in Wilson. Hell nah from Washington.

For who?

Anyhoo, I think people haven't notice how Brodie has looked so far, but Washington still gets the short end of the stick of this deal.

Ashasx 02-09-2013 01:24 PM

Brodie>>>Wilson
Bouwmeester>Green

No thanks.

Flames rebuilder 02-09-2013 02:15 PM

No body likes it, value must be pretty close!l

Lol wtf is this?

Brodie<<<Wilson

Bouwmeester/Cammalleri<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Green

Adirondack Flames 02-09-2013 02:44 PM

Ignoring the blatant stupidity shown both both of our fanbases.

This is not a deal that works for either team.

Flames rebuilder 02-09-2013 03:05 PM

The thought was Green, even with his injury problems, has more value than Cammy, mostly do to his contract. Brodie has more value than Wilson, I think that's a pretty fair assessment

Ynnek 02-09-2013 03:26 PM

Why would the flames do this?

Greeen is nothing close to what he used to be. Brodie, meanwhile, seems to get better and better.

Jules Winnfield 02-09-2013 03:42 PM

As much as I don't want to see the Pens face Camel-Larry again, especially in the playoffs, I think this deal is bad for Washington.

Green has been solid all around this year and has been impressive. Wilson is the exact kind of prospect the Caps need in their system.

The Caps need Backstrom to get healthy and play like he used to and get better goaltending more than anything.

Sergei Shirokov 02-09-2013 03:47 PM

Green > Cammalleri
Wilson < Brodie

Seems pretty fair, it just comes down to preference and with the way Green has played I doubt Washington would be willing to move him. Deal just doesn't work for either side.

InjuredChoker 02-09-2013 03:58 PM

Sorry but I don't think either team would do this. Caps definitely won't. Wilson is a rare prospect for Caps and Green is needed, for now.

Please you think Wilson is better then Brodie, you probably think Green is a top 10 defensemen.

Johnny Hoxville 02-09-2013 06:38 PM

I've always been extremely high on Brodie, even when he was in Junior. He has been our 3rd best dman and outside of Sven and Gaudreau he is the next most untouchable guy on our team. I think he's going to be on our top pairing within 2 seasons. For a guy who was said that defence was his biggest liability and for him to be leading our backend with a +5 rating speaks to just how good this kid is.
