Wpg-Pit trade

To Pit: Evander Kane

To Wpg: James Neal + Scott Harrington

Johnny McBravo 02-09-2013 12:48 PM

Pens say no.

As nice it would be to have Kane, no thanks. Neal's chemistry with Geno should not be touched. Also makes no sense, we need a winger for Crosby, this gives that to us, but we then need a sniper for Malkin.

TorstenFrings 02-09-2013 12:49 PM

Kane is great, but this makes no sense at all for PIT. The have a young winger signed to a very good deal who fits the teams perfectly and has great chemistry with Malkin and then they go and add to him to try out another one?

BrianSTC 02-09-2013 12:49 PM

Jets say hells no!

so do the Pens. i really like E. Kane, but not at the expense of Neal. thats mainly due to his chemistry with Malkin. plus, throwing in Harrington doesnt persuade me either way.

Mo Wanchuk 02-09-2013 12:59 PM

Pens say Nope..

I agree with you it makes me laugh I'm sure there will be a bunch jets fans saying no way without seeing the bigger picture you guys have a gem in Harrington a shut down guy who will end up getting all sorts of ice time, the jets are really hurting for a pure goal scorer who can score on the PP and Neal is exactly that.this deal fits the jets needs to a tee not so much for the penguins I think jets fans underestimate how much Kanes lack of hockey IQ and passing ability will limit his progression.

King Woodballs 02-09-2013 01:02 PM

I dont see either team making this trade

JetsHomer 02-09-2013 01:02 PM

I don't know how good Neal would be with the Jets. Isn't he more of a sniper? We don't really have a play maker to feed him...

Dangles78 02-09-2013 01:03 PM

Why are the Pens adding? For Kanes potential?

The Pens are trading for a potential 40 goal scorer by trading a 40 goal scorer + one of the best D-men in the CHL?

E.Kane is awesome, but this is a huge **** no from the Pens.

Love 02-09-2013 01:10 PM

Kind of a weird trade proposal.... I think both teams say no.

Warm Cookies 02-09-2013 01:21 PM

James Neal is Evander Kane's best-case upside. Christ...no.

Hawker14 02-09-2013 01:25 PM

Thumbs down from this Jets' fan.

SEALBound 02-09-2013 01:30 PM

Neal is better than Kane...so not quite sure how this trade works...

BHD 02-09-2013 01:38 PM

Nope.

Don't you understand? We'd only be trading a 1st Team All-Star winger, the Jets would be trading a guy who hopes to one day become an all-star winger. We have to add.

PensBeerGeek 02-09-2013 01:44 PM

Pens say no...don't need to trigger Matt Cooke's PTSD.

SEALBound 02-09-2013 01:47 PM

Oh yes, of course. So when we do Kane for Neal and Harrington and then Morrow and Sutter for Kulemin...we will have downgraded our third line, slightly improved our top 6 and butchered our dprospect pool.

Perfect. Get it done Ray. When you're done, draft a letter to HF boards that apologizes for the Penguins arrogance and over valuing of players.

Jules Winnfield 02-09-2013 01:48 PM

What is the point of this trade? Makes no sense.

untouchable21 02-09-2013 01:49 PM

Neither team does this. End of Story!

Penguins trade a washed up 25 year old for an upcoming 21 year old. Because Winnipeg absorbs the risk of Neal, on the downside of his career and signed until he's an ancient 31, they receive a solid prospect in Harrington for their trouble.

Try and keep up.

Flair Hay 02-09-2013 04:27 PM

Now the last thing I'm going to do is bash 40 goal James Neal...but they are definitely different players. Kane would work a lot better with Crosby than he would Malkin IMO. Neal is more of a Stamkos type sniper who can one time it from anywhere. Kane is more like Phil Kessel with a power game in that his best shots come from a laser wrister from anywhere in close. He'd score 50 on Crosby's wing and a guy like Letang feeding him next season.

Like the Pens fans have said though, then they'd be left without a sniper on Malkin's line. Both are rare players for sure. It would hurt the Pens PP more than you'd think as well. The difference isn't Harrington. Kane is definitely not a worse player than Neal despite their goal totals that I can say WITH AUTHORITY!! lol

UMMM ... Winnipeg would be getting the best player in the deal? Why does it have to add to it. This is a joke of an idea. What planet do you live on. Do people in Winnipeg watch hockey? Obviously not this cat.

Better yet

Pittsburgh - Kane
Winnipeg - Kennedy and a first.

That is what I think the equal value ridiculous idea is.
