Ovechkin to the Pens BLOCKBUSTER

What would it take? Just imagine Crosby-Malkin-Ovechkin, Letang, Neal on the PP. :amazed: The Pens have a surplus of gritty wingers and at least one, maybe two will be gone at the end of the year. These guys who have won and know what it takes is what WSH needs right now.

How about Kunitz, Depres, Tangradi, Kennedy and two 1st round picks for Ovy and Laich? Could probably convert Laich to wing in the top 6. Pens have so many gritty wingers, they could lose two and easily fill the holes.

Ovechkin-Crosby-Dupuis
Laich-Malkin-Neal
Boychuk-Sutter-Cooke
Glass-Vitale-Jeffrey/Adams

WSH loses their best player but they would still have Backstrom and this would become his team, who I think is more than ready to build an offense around. They add experience, grit and become much deeper. In fact this trade completely changes the mold of WSHs offense especially with Forsberg and Kuznetzov coming.

Kunitz-Backstrom-Brouwer
Tangradi-Ribero-Johansson
Wolski-Kennedy-Perreault
Ward-Hendicks-Beagle

You cant tell me that wouldnt be a much more balanced team now and for the future.

DevilChuk* 02-10-2013 10:17 PM

Can you imagine cap hell for the next 10 years?

Dampland 02-10-2013 10:19 PM

Fan/nor hater of either team, but this is a big over payment by Pittsburgh. Take off Kunitz & Despres, and maybe Pitt bites.

Why don't you think about a few things before bringing something like this out on the table. For one, there is a salary cap in place in the NHL. Those 5 you mention would take up 75% of the cap room. Secondly, Crosby and OV can't stand each other. They wouldn't be able to co-exist. OV would be second or third fiddle on the team - he couldn't handle that. Finally, the guy is a cancer. Have no desire to acquire him at all.

Washington gets bent over the Stanley Cup and smoked in the angus with this deal.

On a scale from 'turrible' to good, Charles Barkley gives this 3.75 classless Subbans.

Sooo Tangradi, Kennedy and 2 LATE firsts for OV AND Laich?

Fraser Read 02-10-2013 10:31 PM

There is no way. Nearly half of their cap would be on 3 players.

Ehh 1sts could be high. Since depth is kinda important now.

let's do it

FissionFire 02-10-2013 10:38 PM

I'm pretty sure if Ovechkin was traded and one of Crosby or Malkin wasn't coming back that the Pens would have to part with either Letang or Neal, if not both. Especially if you add Laich in. Heck just for cap reasons they'd have to move at least 1 or 2 of those names. I don't think a Chris Kunitz-centered proposal would look very enticing to the Caps.

sunnydaycrash 02-10-2013 10:39 PM

Please please stop with the OV to whoever threads.

Halpysback* 02-10-2013 10:42 PM

Any Ov to Pittsburgh deal has to start with Crosby

SI90 02-10-2013 10:42 PM

Pens already paying sid and Geno over 8 mil each, now thier going to pay and underpreforming Ovi 9Mil..?

Haha.

Personally i wouldn't take Ovechkin for free.

Warm Cookies 02-10-2013 10:44 PM

This is a horrible trade for both teams. The Pens couldn't have Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin's contracts and flesh out a contending team, and the return for Washington has way too little in terms of established talent.

sorry, the 18 Ovechkin for spare parts threads that pop up every day are getting kinda old. This must he how Avs fans feel with every Staz/Duchene/O'Reilly to Toronto for MacArthur and a 2nd thread.

Vancouver Canucks* 02-10-2013 10:51 PM

3 1st round picks and a prospect

9.5mil for 65 pts? Your not getting much value back.

As long as he brings it in the playoffs I could care less.

Page me when a caps fan wants to trade him and its not just fans other teams offering secondary **** for him.

butters8814* 02-10-2013 10:59 PM

Can we stop with these dumb threads. Its never going to happen. Caps arent going to trade ovi for spare parts. Ovi has had 2 down years but still had 70 goals in 2 years, still better then most players in the nhl.

Yeah, but Staz/Duchene/O'Reilly aren't the best player in the world.

You don't start a discussion with the best player in the world.

Anyway...I'm sure there's mutual disinterest in any deal happening on both sides anyway. I certainly wouldn't be willing to sell the farm for a question mark with the largest cap hit in the league, especially not when we have Malkin and Letang hitting UFA status in a year and a half.
