Two Flyers' scouts at the San Jose-Columbus game (February 11, 2013)

A total of 19 scouts at nationwide arena and two from the flyers. This could be nothing but seems strange for so many scouts to be at the same one game. What could possibly be reason for us to be attending that game with two scouts?

I posted this elsewhere but here is the link:

NHL scouts from: BOS, CAR, CHI 2, COL, DET, EDM, MINN, MON, NASH, NJ, NYR, OTT, PHIL 2, PITT, TB, VAN, WPG ... total of 19 in Nationwide.
Obviously, it isn't advance scouting (no West games this season).

Interesting.

FLYguy3911 02-11-2013 08:05 PM

Jack Johnson?

Mosetter27 02-11-2013 08:08 PM

Ill take JJ

Prongo 02-11-2013 08:11 PM

Derrick Brassard is supposed to be available.

SolidSnakeUS 02-11-2013 08:19 PM

Maybe we're looking to somehow rob them again.

JDinklage Morgoone 02-11-2013 08:22 PM

Umberger I bet.

Only for them to trade them to a Stanley cup champ....

I wouldn't mind that.

The ultimate question is WHO do we move to acquire...

SolidSnakeUS 02-11-2013 08:23 PM

Honestly, how things have been, that's very likely.

Hollywood Couturier 02-11-2013 08:24 PM

Looking at the Sharks IMO.

SolidSnakeUS 02-11-2013 08:24 PM

Douglas Murray for our scraps?

MiamiScreamingEagles 02-11-2013 08:25 PM

Umberger has a pricey contract:

Quote:

Columbus Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger has signed a five-year contract extension that will keep him with the club through the 2016-17 season.

The deal is worth $23 million, with an average of $4.6 million annually, a source told ESPN.com.

"We have signed RJ to a 5 year extension," Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson tweeted Wednesday morning. "Thrilled to have such a big part of our team signed long term."

Prongo 02-11-2013 08:27 PM

There is rumors out there that the Sharks are looking for another winger.

Just don't see the Sharks moving a valuable piece considering the way they have been playing (up until tonight). Douglas Murray is redundant with Schenn and Grossmann. And besides do you think they would send 2 scouts just for him? Brent Burns would be nice but they gave up a lot for him and hes on a nice long term deal. Its gotta be JJ. He's been linked for way too long. I think he would be a great fit.

SolidSnakeUS 02-11-2013 08:30 PM

By giving up who?

JDinklage Morgoone 02-11-2013 08:32 PM

JJ is the captain isn't he? I don't see it.

Who says we're the ones looking for the big piece?

Prongo 02-11-2013 08:35 PM

Daniel Briere to the Sharks (P4)

jd2210 02-11-2013 08:36 PM

taking into consideration Homers hatred for 2nd picks and his love for old Flyers I'm going to conclude ...........

SolidSnakeUS 02-11-2013 08:36 PM

I'd go for David Savard or John Moore.

Of course these "x scouts are at this game" never seem to correlate to a deal. Its always fun speculating though.

A team like Columbus isn't going to just trade prospects for prospects. They would have to be included in a deal and it would probably be part of a big deal on the Flyers end.
