K. This is probably his last year.

Way he went out wasn't right last season. Needs one last full season or whatever he can give

He's the best

Machinehead 02-13-2013 10:05 PM

I think if he's healthy he's gonna close it out with another great season.

Seems like he should've been done for....forever, but he keeps finding a way.

If his decision is anything other than he's playing he's just being a total jackass. That would seriously be "The Decision" level of selfishness otherwise.

He's playing this year, he's gonna make his decision about the 2014 season before Opening Day.

Well then ignore what I said, I totally misunderstood what was going on. I thought it seemed strange that Rivera would be a jackass like that. It turns out he's not being a jackass at all, which makes more sense.

When I first read the thread and article's title I thought the same thing

Anyone who criticizes Mariano Rivera can go to hell.

I just don't understand how anyone can talk bad of him. He's so talented and such a nice, quiet guy. What's not to love?

This is a good move. He's letting us know if this is his last year now instead of dangling us.

The way the thread title is worded it sounds as though he hasn't decided on this upcoming season yet, that's why people are thinking he is a tool. When in actuality he is doing the Yankees a great service by giving them a full year's notice.

Yeah I think there might be some misunderstanding here with the wording and such. At least I hope so.

I know it was in your case because you pretty much voided your first comment :)

The worst part of the $189MM thing is that it decreases the odds that Rivera's career ends the way it should, with a six out save in Game 7 of the World Series.

He already had a chance for a 6 out save in game 7 of the world series and blew it.

Low blow.

Machinehead 02-20-2013 05:53 PM

I'd rather he do it in game 4 anyway, I don't need the stress

To be fair, it saved the life of at least one of his teammates.

Thorntonfan97 03-07-2013 01:17 PM

Well looks like Mo will retire

Francesa 03-07-2013 01:27 PM

He is the best of all time

Whatever his decision is I'll respect

Better Call Saul 03-07-2013 02:05 PM

:(

Mo's farewell tour might be the only interesting story line of the season for what could be the worst Yankees team in a while.

starsfan24 03-07-2013 05:49 PM

Greatest closer of all time.

Enrique Wilson was supposed to fly back to the Dominican Republic on the plane that crashed in Queens that November, but rescheduled his flight because he was bummed about losing the World Series.

Quite the silver lining.
