Sad news out of South Africa (Oscar Pistorius on trial)

Apparently, Oscar Pestorius shot and killed his girlfriend thinking she was a robber

XX 02-14-2013 01:12 AM

Sure. Totally believable.

kihei 02-14-2013 01:27 AM

Who is going to believe that? I've perused the evidence and conclude that he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

clefty 02-14-2013 01:59 AM

Yeah, you're hilarious.

KaylaJ 02-14-2013 02:10 AM

How horrible, feel so bad for that woman's family.

saskriders 02-14-2013 02:14 AM

Sad no matter what the truth is

Ser Woof 02-14-2013 02:15 AM

Yeah, just horrible. Seems to be the case... all over Twitter.

@680News: #BREAKING: South African police say Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius, 26, charged with murder in shooting at his home in South Africa.

Pretoria police spokeswoman Denise Beukes confirmed he had been charged with murder, adding they had been called to his home on several occasions since 2011 to deal with 'allegations of a domestic nature'.

Roses are red violets are glorious don't try to surprise Oscar Pistorious

SpinTheBlackCircle 02-14-2013 07:49 AM

I am sure his defense will cost an arm.

According to Gawker, there had been a history of domestic disputes at their home. Just awful...

Not 100% correct. She doesn't live there and they've only been dating a short time. The history goes back to before they met.

kanuck87 02-14-2013 09:52 AM

Yeah, I don't believe that he thought she was a robber. Apparently, he shot her 4 times. Sounds like he knew what he was doing.

Beef Invictus 02-14-2013 10:21 AM

I'm not buying self defense.

Even if it is self defense, it's not a good idea to blindly shoot people in the dark in your own house.

Ser Woof 02-14-2013 12:12 PM

The more that comes out the worse it looks for Oscar.

I have no faith in the SAPS to properly handle this case but I can only hope with this being a high profile incident and garnering a lot of international attention they can at least appear competent.

That may be asking too much.

Rough year for role model athletes

Panteras 02-14-2013 12:58 PM

Didn't he make some dbag comments to one of the runners that beat him in the Olympics?

InjuredChoker 02-14-2013 01:11 PM

Horrible, what ever there really happened.

Beukes said there were no signs of forced entry to the home and said that police would oppose any application Pistorius might make to be released on bail.

Beukes said there had been reports about previous problems at Pistorius' home that were "allegations of a domestic nature." When a reporter asked if she meant domestic violence, she nodded and said yes.

"There are witnesses and we have interviewed them," she added. "We're talking about neighbors and people who heard things earlier in the evening and when the shooting took place."
