Why do I have this weird sense of deja vu?

Seriously, though, wasn't Tokarski supposed to be a bit of a hotshot goalie at one point?

Erik Estrada 02-14-2013 09:36 AM

Is he a heavyweight enforcer?

Tuggy 02-14-2013 09:36 AM

Maybe Tokarski is the future backup...

Marc the Habs Fan 02-14-2013 09:36 AM

I like it. Desjardins was terrible this year in Hamilton and quite frankly, was never as close to the NHL as some people here felt.

Tokarski is 23 and still has a shot at being a NHL goalie. Pretty solid numbers last season, bit of a decline this year.

le_sean 02-14-2013 09:36 AM

I thought Bergevin was chosen as GM, not McGuire.

gusfring 02-14-2013 09:37 AM

Neither goalie is very good.

Waiting for the Kassian announcement.

Dr Gonzo 02-14-2013 09:37 AM

Oooooh TOKARSKI!

Hannibal 02-14-2013 09:38 AM

Okay...

Et le But 02-14-2013 09:39 AM

The Desjardins fan club must be hurting.

Andy 02-14-2013 09:39 AM

Somewhere, someplace, McGuire just came.

HiggsBozon 02-14-2013 09:40 AM

Love this trade. Was hot as hell in the WJC a couple of years back, and he has NHL potential in my opinion. TB has been giving 2 assets for Desjardins in the last few years. Not that good for them.

Jacko95 02-14-2013 09:42 AM

WOW what a steal for you guys, Tokarski is nearly NHL ready (but wasn't that impressive this year) and could very well be your back-up next year.
Desjardins will never be a good goalie in the NHL.

Thats the very first bad trade Steve Yzerman made as a Tampa GM  :shakehead

He sucked during the WJCs

Andy 02-14-2013 09:42 AM

Good trade based just on the need. The intention is good. Good Job MB.

Canadian_Brewtality 02-14-2013 09:43 AM

funny how his name will always be asscoiated with Pierre Mcguire

Tokarski, who the Lightning selected 122nd overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has played in 33 games with the Syracuse Crunch thsi season, posting an 18-8-4 record with a 2.46 GAA.

Desjardins is 7-13-2 with a 2.94 GAA this season with the Hamilton Bulldogs.
I'm guessing he'll be the backup next season.

Still won a gold medal, more than anything Desjardins won at this stage. He won everywhere and is much younger than C.D.

Dirty Danglez 02-14-2013 09:44 AM

What the hell? He won the calder last year, no? He's still young and has just had a bad start to the season. Great acquisition! Gonna be a solid backup sooner rather than later

Blind Gardien 02-14-2013 09:44 AM

That's cool. I thought Desjardins would be better than he has been. Well, I actually do think he is better than he has played. But things haven't worked out on so many fronts for the Bulldogs, and that's just another one.

Tokarski can be #3 next year, or challenge for a backup spot. He's almost there. He is on his last year of waiver exemption and an RFA, however, so challenging for the backup spot would be ideal for him next year. It gives us some insurance again if Budaj isn't re-signed.

He was indeed pretty high profile in junior with Team Canada posting and Memorial Cup heroics, so many of us have seen him in those. He isn't ideal size, but has a reputation as a "big game goalie".

I like it! Hope the Habs qualify him and keep him in the mix for next season.

I dont understand this trade from TB pov.

Of course he won the gold medal, doesn't mean he was good.

WeThreeKings 02-14-2013 09:45 AM

Doesn't matter. Tokarski sucks.
