Caps @ Rangers - 17/02/13 - we win a few times huh

On a little roll,
Losing takes its toll,
When winning 'comes a knocking though
Brouwer gets a goal.

Ps. It's too bloody hot.

I just hope Green plays today.

Tried watching the replay of the Tampa Bay game. Whatever happened seems to have taken place after he ran Stamkos into the boards. Oddly enough not the other way around - Stamkos taking Green into the boards. Green definitely came up lame after that contact though, shortened his shift and headed down the tunnel.

*probably* Groin.

Again.

Ridley Simon 02-17-2013 10:25 AM

A win would be monumental, but I dont expect it. Even a "good loss" where they go toe to toe with a preseason Cup contender, on the road, would be healthy for this team.

Need the G to play well to have a chance here.

4-3 NYR, in OT. Loser Point!

swimmer77 02-17-2013 10:41 AM

Are the Caps the only team that can replace an alleged healed groin (Green) with another alleged healed groin (Poti)? :shakehead

txpd 02-17-2013 10:44 AM

is there a link to the groin thing?

Carlzner 02-17-2013 10:54 AM

Damn... I thought this game was at 12:30

Blades of Steel 02-17-2013 10:54 AM

I haven't seen a report on a groin injury on green, all I've seen are reports of (lower) body injury.. Nothing specific.. I was curious as well

Capitlols 02-17-2013 10:56 AM

So glad McPhee equipped us with defensive depth.

swimmer77 02-17-2013 11:00 AM

Carlson needs to step up. He's the closest thing to Green's all round ability. As much as I disliked Wideman last year he did step it up offensively and compensated somewhat for that offense. Right side looks scary without Green this year.

RandyHolt 02-17-2013 11:25 AM

I will predict we see no drop off on the PP assuming Carlson takes Greens spot.

Kundratek has to step and want to see more from him on the PP.

Is there a RD in Hershey worthy of emergency duty, should we need it?

You can argue with the quality but organizational blueline depth was not a problem coming into this season.

PuckBuddy 02-17-2013 11:45 AM

Big game. Ah, wait, they all are ...until they aren't.

Ridley Simon 02-17-2013 11:54 AM

Much to my surprise, the Caps can close to within 2 pts of the 8th slot (occupied by the Rags) with a regulation win (yes, more games played, blah blah blah, but whatever)

So...indeed a big game...this game #15 of 48.

Ridley Simon 02-17-2013 12:00 PM

So Green is officially out.

Yikes, look at this D (minus Green, Orlov, and healthy Hamrlik scratch).

Defense
Alzner-Poti
Erskine-Carlson
Schultz-Kundratek

That's Uggo, with a capital U. We can talk about depth all we want, but the quality is a little scary.

We might get drilled today. As I said earlier...the G has to step up here, big time. We cant have a soft goal....as I think we will see at least 3 "non-soft" goals.

I'm now thinking a 5-2 Pens like drubbing. Maybe 6-3.

bacchist 02-17-2013 12:02 PM

Not scared.

Liberati0n* 02-17-2013 12:05 PM

Where has it been confirmed that Green has a groin injury?

Liberati0n* 02-17-2013 12:12 PM

As far as I can see, people are completely making up that it's his groin.

AlexBrovechkin8 02-17-2013 12:14 PM

It's about that time of the season for Green to be hurt. We hardly knew ye.
