NJ isn't trading Clarkson. Montreal isn't trading Gio for Volch. Ohlund hasn't played in 2 years

You're absolutely nuts if you think the Devils trade Clarkson for that.

Not interested in Volchenkov, and while he is a decent player, we need more talent on the wings than on defense right now, which is what Gionta is here for.

I wouldn't swap Diaz for Ohlund at all. That would be a stupid move.

New Jersey is not trading roster players anytime soon.

WOW, i really had not realized its been that long since Ohlund has played..
.. regarding Gio, aside from the leadership role he reportedly plays in the locker room, I see him on the decline.. He's become pretty predictable when he gains the offensive zone with the puck (Shooting from absolutely any and everywhere), yes he goes to the net some times but we have Bourque playing on the same line whos been doing that job quite well... Im not bashing Gio in any way, but just feel it wouldnt be such a terrible idea to part ways while we can still get a decent return Volchenkov.. Who can clear the net and is a big stay at home Dman there we can surely use

Also, why are we trying to add ANOTHER offensive d-man. We have Markov, Subban, Diaz, Kaberle and Weber in the big club.

Possible, but given the current situation of the Habs, I think we can use a rugged stay at home Dman more than what Gionta brings on the ice ..

The Clarkson trade is probably fair value in a vaccuum, but the Devils wouldn't do it. Nothing any team would give up would entice the Devils right now to trade him.

I personally wouldn't mind Gionta for Volchenkov, I'd do that every day of the week. I don't think we'd be giving up any more picks though. We don't have our 3rd, 5th or 7th this year and we don't have our fourth next year. We also have to give up a 1st either this year or next.

It's an interesting offer, but it definitly needs some adjustemend.
I think Morgan Ellis could be a good prospect for Tampa, but I can't see a good fit for Moen in Tampa.
And can you actually give me some insight on Emelin, he is only in his second year. Is he a TWD or a defensive D ?

Just by comparing stats, Emelin seems like a second pairing DD, while we give up a #2 D, which plays the most minutes on our team, while Emelin only plays the 5th most on yours.

My proposal (without knowing the insight on Emelin):

Emelin+Ellis for Matt Carle straight up.

You should probably just disregard that proposal. Montreal is in no position to trade a defensive D for another offensive one or to add another 5M+ contract without moving one out.

2nded. Montreal has a plethora of offensive d-men, but really need the physical game Emelin brings.

I'd do Volch+pick for Gio one in a heartbeat
