To Edmonton:

Mark Stone

officeglen 02-17-2013 10:20 PM

No thanks from the Sens

WeridAl 02-17-2013 10:22 PM

Brutal for the Sen's.

HavlatMach9 02-17-2013 10:24 PM

Stone's value is around a 1st round pick.

Homesick 02-17-2013 10:25 PM

I'd rather take Whitney play bottom pairing minutes and hopefully play marginally better than add a prospect who will never touch our top 6

inthewings 02-17-2013 10:25 PM

Not even close. And I'm not even high on Stone.

21 year old 2nd line AHL player is not worth a 1st round pick

I agree Stone isn't worth a first even as a Sens fan but that's the worst justification I've ever seen.

Bartschi was playing second line in the AHL during the lockout. Guess he's not worth much.

Marty Straka 02-17-2013 10:35 PM

So.... one of our better forward prospects for.... an underachieving veteran defensemen who's been a healthy scratch on an EDM team who's defense isn't exactly spectacular to begin with? Yea that makes total sense.

Pass.

123 points last year in the WHL, and was Team Canada's leading scorer at the WJC
19 points in 35 games in his AHL rookie year playing mostly on the 3rd line with a broken rib

Why isn't Stone worth a 1st round pick? The only thing holding him back from being regarded as a forward prospect with huge upside is his draft position. His development since being drafted has been excellent, when a team drafts a player in the 1st round they can only hope that player will progress like Stone after his draft year.

The obsession with draft picks on this board is absurd.

Corey Locke should return about 3 first round picks.

Mozesmadness 02-17-2013 11:11 PM

No thanks, from an Oilers fan.

Stone is unproven and is not what the Oil need, Whitney is worth more than a B prospect he is in a slump and will break out, that's not to say he won't be dealt I just don't think this is the deal for the oil

Corey Locke also isn't 6'2, 210lbs, and did not lead his country's age group in scoring at an international tournament over names such as Huberdeau, Strome, and others.

I think he has proved that he is a pretty good player, I can't understand why he is viewed the way he is on this forum, have to think it's his draft position.

eklunds source 02-17-2013 11:19 PM

Nobody wants Whitney. He was a trainwreck in 2011-2012; the second worst defenseman on one of the worst defense groups in the league.. When you're barely outplaying Cam Barker and taking up $4m of the cap, you're not a desirable trade commodity.

The Oilers have to hope his ankles heal up.

BonkTastic 02-17-2013 11:30 PM

In before thread lock.

OP's offer is beyond awful.

danishh 02-17-2013 11:32 PM

bye.

Good deal, even could settle for a pebble if Ottawa doesn't want to pay the shipping cost(weight and all).

His skating is horrible.

I would do this just to get rid of Whitney, dont really have any use for Stone as he wont toucj our top 6 ever.

Actually his skating is average for his size. This isn't 2010 anymore.

He's also really good defensively.

BonkTastic 02-18-2013 01:38 AM

I just want to reiterate how awful this proposal is.

A $4million dollar frequent healthy scratch with a bad ankle that has crippled his game, who can't be counted on to break the top-6 of a defence that is regarded as somewhat below average (though better this year than they have been) and is headed for UFA in 4 months, for a very nice prospect who has been an effective scorer at every level in his career so far?

Just... just no.
