Joe Thornton's Fight History

His last three fights:

08-09 Playoffs - Ryan Getzlaf
2011-12 Season - Drew Doughty
2012-13 Season - Jonathan Toews

http://www.hockeyfights.com/players/282

Does anyone find it odd that all three of these guys were his teammates on the 2010 Canadian Olympic team?

Is this stretch also the most talented fight card streak ever? Are there any other talented players who fought other talented players 3 times in a row or more?

Wasn't sure if I should have put this in this forum or the fights forum, mods move to the appropriate one please.

Fight that never happened but Jumbo Joe has some balls to him

Quote:

San Jose captain Joe Thornton tried to get the Western Conference finals off to a raucous start when he asked gritty Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler to drop the gloves right off the opening faceoff.

''Why not?'' Thornton said Tuesday, confirming he made the invitation to Kesler. ''Let's fight. Let's start the series off with a bang.''

Maybe it is mind games and/or setting a tone

The more important question is.... Is Thornton for real? Perhaps 30-40%. 60 if you're generous, but then I'm going to have to ask you something.

Yes, nary a forum. Cross the i's and dot the x's. No indeed, my friend.

Krishna 02-18-2013 12:54 AM

Why would a top player fight a lesser player?

ryedog* 02-18-2013 12:55 AM

That was funny, Kesler was scared ****less.

Bruv 02-18-2013 12:57 AM

Don't **** with Jumbo

Whatever this post means, I agree with it at 74,3%.

Leading up to the 2010 Olympics David Backes was fighting every member of the 2010 Canadian team he could. I believe it was Nash, Iggy, Toews, and maybe another.

Getz2perry 02-18-2013 01:06 AM

When a line is dominating a series as much as getz and perry were doing in that playoff series, and your line is being relatively shut down you got to do something to stop em. If you watch the getz jumbo joe fight from the ducks feed they show joe chasing him around trying to get that fight. I think getz finally gave him the fight as a consolation prize for being knocked out of playoffs.

Perry tried to give marleau the same option but guess he didnt want that.

i think perry was on the list

Ryp37 02-18-2013 01:08 AM

he's a top line player, fighting scrubs isn't worth the trade off

It was the very first puck drop of series, he was definitely scared. You or I would probably be too.

Ya im sure he was scared ****less, so scared he got his teammates to win the series in 5 so he wouldn't have to see jumbo joe until the next season.
