Revisiting Tortorella swearing fine.

Remember this......

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/stor...-playoffs-2012

where is the fine for this then?

Guess the NHL wasn't real serious about this after all. Or was there some other factor in the decision.....?

Why wasn't Miller fined?

Because he didn't say anything bad about the league's golden organization and their two Golden Superstars.

Killem Dafoe 02-18-2013 02:25 PM

He didn't badmouth the organization. He just swore. Torts has sworn tons of times in interviews and hasn't been fined.

silverfish 02-18-2013 02:28 PM

Yeah, what they said.

Miller challenged himself and his own team. Torts went after another organization and the league.

The Perfect Paradox 02-18-2013 02:33 PM

They're not even comparable, IMO. I don't think the league rightfully fined Tortorella, but it's obvious that his fine was due to insulting the Pens. Miller's comments are strictly profane, and have no intentions of calling another organization or players out.

Take a look at what Bettman said about Tortorella's comments:

It seems he was more concerned about things other than cursing.

Wow. Just wow. People should never question claims that Cindy gets special treatment from the league. That just proves it.

M Gaz 02-18-2013 02:43 PM

I guess Hank should've been fined too eh? :sarcasm:

Except in the article I link Bettman said it was for swearing....

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/stor...-playoffs-2012

...... are you telling me that was a lie?:sarcasm:

That's the entire point of me posting this. There has been tons a f-bombs dropped in interviews since then with no fine. Why did the NHL lie back then and say it was for swearing and not for what it really was, calling out the Penguins organization and it's whiny stars?

Players are in a union. Head coaches are not.

stenis22 02-18-2013 03:20 PM

Sometimes he's just bad and disrespectful to the media and other people. but other times it ends up being funny.

can't get the YT link to work but the one in last years PO's with Pierre on the bench "im not telling you"

But players can be fined too can't they?

I mean they can clearly be fined for other things.

I just resent the BS excuse from the NHL back then and not having the balls to admit they didn't like the comments against it's star players.

Kel Varnsen 02-18-2013 03:25 PM

Bettman point blank said the torts fine was for cursing, not for being mean to the pens. However, obviously the nhl doesn't always fine players or coaches for cursing, hell torts cursed a bunch of other times throughout the year and his career without being fined for doing so. So the only conclusion to draw was Bettman's official reason for the fine wasn't the real reason for the fine. I think we can all fill in what the real reason might be...

lol Ok, I'll bring it back just for this thread.

Dorado* 02-18-2013 08:47 PM

I hate Torts but l loved that interview .

The Perfect Paradox 02-18-2013 10:23 PM

Despite the fact that the league told the public one thing and punished him for another, I absolutely love that interview. I re-watched it twice since the video has been posted. I'm just happy that someone finally had the balls to say it!

trilobyte 02-18-2013 11:00 PM

He swears just fine.

Bleedred 02-18-2013 11:05 PM

I was on Torts side during this interview. When you watch the Pens sometimes you'll see that some guys are too afraid of touching Crosby. Guys won't even take a penalty hooking him. I thought the fine was BS.

JohnC 02-18-2013 11:15 PM

The video of Sid's response to the comments was annoying. And like that is said without as much Ranger bias as possible

A really, really embarrassing player. It's a shame that someone with that much talent is such a ****ing ***** crybaby *****.

This was the best. lol

JohnC 02-18-2013 11:56 PM

Say what you will about Dubi, but who was the first person in there after Sid shoved Hank? Seems like a really good teammate

ImIdaho 02-19-2013 02:46 AM

If Hitler, bin Laden, and Crosby were in a room and I had a gun with two bullets, I'd shoot Crosby, leave the room, hunt down Malkin, and then beat the ever living **** out of Lemiuex.

KingStian 02-19-2013 03:25 AM

There's no doubt the Penguins, with Crosby and Malkin, are held to a different standard than the rest of the league. I can't for example get the game earlier this season, when Malkin tried to tomahawk chop Marc Staal's head and hit him in the helmet, out of my mind. There wasn't even called a penalty, other than a minor on both guy for the scrum, on the play, and god forbid the league would take a look at that after the game. Any other player swung his stick like that would have been suspended. There were no accident here.
