Wendel Clarke

Kane.

Wendel Clark

Clark was a good all around guy. Awsome hard nosed player but injuries held him back big time. Going with Patrick Kane.

The only reason I'd pick Wendel Clark over Kane is because he seems like a really good guy whereas Kane by all accounts appears to be a d bag. On the ice though, Kane is the better player.

How is Berard not running away with this?

shaner89 02-19-2013 05:24 PM

Clark then kane

All of the accounts in your head, maybe.

I'm actually a big fan of Kane's, so you're wrong there. And if you honestly haven't heard any stories about him being a bit of a *****, then you're the one who's in your own head.

CLARK is winning this? Christ, I'd put:

Hall
Kane
Nolan
Murphy
Ramage

before Wendel friggin' Clark.

564 points in 793 games in a largely high-scoring era? That's basically third line numbers. He barely had a handful of + seasons, and a plethora of HUGELY minus ones. "But he was a leader and a warrior". So was Jason Smith. So was Mike Peca. So was Jim Peplinski. And Dave Taylor. And Kirk Muller. And Trevor Linden. And Dale Hunter. And so on. He never won anything either. I don't get why he's such a popular choice. He was a good player, but nothing THAT special.

But I wouldn't take any of those guys ahead of a borderline superstar like Kane or Hall . Murphy at least won a cup and played a solid role in doing so, and had a similar stat line. Ramage was a beast who played a longer career, won a cup as a key piece, and was also a warrior. Nolan had a much longer career and was also a beast, putting up nearly 900 points. Arguments could easily be made even for Hamrlik and Nash over Clark.

I remember Clark very well and he was infinitely likeable, but he wasn't THAT great as a hockey player. Just a good NHLer, heart and soul kinda guy, and provided good toughness and secondary scoring. Nothing more...

I picked Kane here. It's too early, but he's already a cup winner and was one of the biggest pieces to that cup run as basically a teenager.

Evincar 02-19-2013 06:17 PM

Voted Kane.

I would take Chris Phillips and Roman Hamrlik over Wendel Clark...

Rick Nash for me. Also all due respect to Wendel Clark but how is he 2nd in this poll?

InjuredChoker 02-20-2013 10:19 AM

Voted Kane.
