What will top 6 be when Harts is back?

current lines:

Read Giroux Voracek
Briere Schenn Simmonds

I think Simmonds or Read is going to be bumped to the third. What about you?

If there was justice, Briere would be odd man out. I wouldn't mind Read, as I posted elsewhere; he and Couturier would be a potentially strong two-way duo. Plus, you team them with a physical presence like McGinn or a crease-smasher like Knuble, and they could play big minutes.

IF Giroux continues to show chemistry with Read and Voracek, I'd be reluctant to change them up. Giroux didnt look too good with Hartnell earlier but FINALLY the last game was the old Giroux. If he shows it wasnt just a 1 game show, then I dont think they should mess with it. I know Read isnt the sexy pick, but when something works I hate changing it.

CyborgLindros 02-19-2013 10:52 PM

My guess is everyone you see plus Hartnell. If they continue losing it's a revolving door. If the Islanders game was them turning it around I think it comes down to Simmonds or Read. Whoever isn't doing well. I'd rather move Read down but feel like he's trying to earn top line time. Problem being is Couts doesn't need Knuble/McGinn, and Simmonds screening.

Gustafsson has earned a spot in the top 6 above Gervais and/or Foster.

I know when Mez is healthy we will have 8 d-men ready to go :yo: and lets hope that no more than 2 of them are injured at once or we'll have to go back to Lilja :shakehead

BernieParent 02-19-2013 11:03 PM

The other way to go is the give Hartnell 3rd-line minutes to ease him back into the line-up.

As for D, the pessimist in me doesn't see this team getting back into playoff contention, and I want to give Gustafsson every chance to grow into a reliable PMD.

Timonen - Schenn
Coburn - Gustafsson
Grossmann - Meszaros
Gervais

Foster, yes, but I don't think he has been better than Gervais. They're kind of interchangeable, I think, although at the moment I'd give a slight edge to Gervais. But Gus has only played two games, so it's hard to judge.

Read-Giroux-Voracek

Hartnell-Schenn-Briere

Talbot- Couturier- Simmonds

Rinaldo - Fedotenko- Knuble

that's what I would do.

Everybody hates on Gervais, but he honestly hasn't been that bad. He moves the puck better than everybody on our blue line besides Kimmo and now Gus since he's up. When Mesz comes back it'll be a tough decision, but Gus will be in instead of Gervais.

That's a pretty nice fourth line! :handclap:

PhilaFlyers 02-20-2013 06:33 AM

Read has been our best player this season, I say bump Briere

Agreed, this is what I would want to see. As long as G, Jake, and Read play well against the Pens and Panthers I don't see a reason to switch that line.

looks good, but I would put McGinn in Knuble's spot

Intentional Icing 02-20-2013 03:22 PM

i would put harts on the line that is not producing at the time.

McNasty 02-20-2013 03:45 PM

Really just depends how everybody is playing. If both lines are playing well put him with Couturier until someone goes cold.

How so? He's played 2 games, 1 against an Islanders team that arguably an elite Junior squad could beat. I like Gus as much as the next fan and really pine for some more mobility from our back end but Gervais has been a rock back there as our number 6, solid and poised both with and without the puck.

I just don't understand what people are looking for or expecting in Gervais and let's wait until we see Gus handle a strong forecheck before we mark his roster spot in ink.
