Ryan Miller

He gets hung out to dry every night and deserves to go somewhere he can win. What can your playoff contender offer for Ryan Miller?

Tapu Coco 02-19-2013 11:40 PM

Unless we get a goalie back, having Jhonas Enroth as our starter, with the way he's playing this year, would make our season even more painful to watch

But the draft would make you more happy lol

2 1st round draft picks

mgeise 02-20-2013 02:55 AM

If the Sabres can get a decent return for Miller, I'd gladly suffer through 31 games of a **** show with Enroth in net to get MacKinnon or Jones. I don't think Miller will want to return to Buffalo when his contract ends after next season, so the front office should try to maximize his value now. He's the only reason why this team is even 6-10-1; this team is awful defensively and he's had to bail them out game after game.

Miller for Phaneuf... there i said it :sarcasm:

Kiss My Rask 02-20-2013 08:57 AM

I would say CHI is the perfect spot for him but Crawford has been solid this year

tsujimoto74 02-20-2013 09:27 AM

Would secure, at worst, the no 2 draft pick for us (assuming we lose the lottery) if we trade him. Not sure who'd be interested though. Chicago if Crawford starts slumping? SJS? Maybe Detroit, depending on how long they expect Howard to be out for? Also, because uniting hockey brothers is fun.

If he gets moved, it's definitely going to be to the Western Conference (so fans of eastern teams, don't bother). Buffalo isn't going to want to play against him, and he has a limited NTC, and I believe he'd pick WC teams to be closer to his wife (California) and/or his home state (Michigan).

Que the Miller to Toronto for Scrivens + Colborne proposals.

oilinblood 02-20-2013 09:55 AM

Edmonton would be interested but not desperate. Our issues revolve around our defence...particularly the right side... and lack of F/O and body dominance in bottom 6. So any main assets would be used to pursue those ends.

For a year and a run with Miller... considering Dubes hasnt been an issue for us and has better numbers than Miller (bigger than the numbers is simply that Dubes hasnt been the issue-we are the worst 5 on 5 team in 14 years and last i checked Dubnyk wasnt brought in to win draws and score goals)... we would be willing to make a proposal but its not the dire need. No point in taking a shot at Miller when we really need a Johnny Boychuk and a Brian Boyle type first.

out of curiosity what do you think it would take? Part of me thinks Dubnyk, for a young goalie behind this crappy team, despite his 2 off-periods this year, is proving himself a #1.

and btw if MACT wasnt here we wouldnt even have Fistric who has been a terrific addition in a bottom 6 role. He takes the odd penalty but most of them have been "mean " penalties (hits/punches after whistles to crease crashers) which i am fully acceptive of. Time for Tambo to hit the road. I have no fiath in Tambo even knowing how to dial the right numbers for other GMs...i think he just holidays year round in Bali.

Doubt they move Miller...at least not this year. Not many teams looking for a goalie and most prominent two, Florida and Toronto, doubt will be rushing to move a top prospect or first round pick.

Amadeus 02-20-2013 01:01 PM

Would absolutely love him in Toronto.

He burns us.

Workensons 02-20-2013 01:07 PM

Agreed that Chicago would be the best place for him to go right now. Would Chicago be interested in a Miller for Kane deal? C'mon, you guys have enough offense. :D

JustOneB4IDie 02-20-2013 01:13 PM

St. Louis Blues, for
Halak and a 1st :handclap:

Workensons 02-20-2013 01:29 PM

All I know is that when the following occurs:

-the D in front of you can't clear the zone if their life depended on it and are making terrible/borderline ******** reads
-the team as a whole in the defensive zone looks like they're playing hot potato with hand grenades
-the breakout passing is that terrible that there's at least a 50% chance that the other team is going to get it back

...your numbers are going to suffer. Sure Miller gives up softies here and there, but the thought that the team in front of you would exterminate that average-at-best scoring chance should factor in somewhere.

Seriously. This is the worst defense I've ever seen played. Ever. I would rather have the 05-06 Janik and Jillson playing over Leopold and Sulzer right now. At least they showed the smallest inkling of desire to win.

The Hawks can't afford his cap hit next year.

Keep in mind this is a Value Of thread, not an Opinion Of thread. Please at least try to make it seem like you're on topic. I don't want to clean this one up again.

Top Pair Imposter 02-20-2013 01:54 PM

Any team in need of a year-to-year consistent workhorse goaltender would be remiss to not bite on this one!

How could it be more painful?

It would be great if they blew it all up. Then my expectations would be those of a fan watching a rebuilding team, not a of fan of a team spending $77.000.000 on a last place team.

Good points.

But the first step has been taken:handclap:

I'd rather have Elliott. And Tarasenko instead of the first.

Djp 02-20-2013 03:48 PM

To chicago/San Jose for Crawford(Veteran Goalie) + prospect+2013 1st

to anaheim for Hiller+young NHL player+2013 1st

Another option: Miller/Ennis for Hiller/Ryan

If a 3 team could be done where Miller to a West team....player back goes to Vancouver/LA for their backup goalie.

palindrom 02-20-2013 04:10 PM

I will take Luongo or Miller, whoever have the lowest asking price.

Unless i can find an even more interesting option around.

Terror91 02-20-2013 04:46 PM

I'd deal Halak and a first, or Elliott, Schwartz, and a 2nd.

The Ducks aren't adding to their goaltending payroll, and they aren't trading Ryan, especially with Getzlaf and Perry unsigned. Also, I think the difference between Miller and Hiller is significantly overstated in that first bit.
