Weird. Wasn't there talk that he actually lost 10 pounds? Anyway, looks like the mainstream media's starting to see Ales in the same light as we Oilers fans do.

Yeah, I was reading that this morning. Like you said, before it was the 10 pounds ligher, leaner and faster Ales Hemsky... Now apparently he's bulked up by 20 pounds, maybe to be a power forward? :)

Whatever he's done, he looks great, and continues to impress and amaze. Can't wait for the regular season to start, and the Ales Hemsky highlights to begin!

"Ales Hemsky RW R 6-00 192 [lbs]" from 2003-2004 EDMONTON OILERS TRAINING CAMP ROSTER Active Players Still in Camp Last update 09/20/2003. Last year http://www.nhl.com/lineups/player/8469466.html listed Hemski weighing 170 lbs. :) Hey sometimes the hockey scribes scribble non-sense. ;)

He did a good job avoiding taking the big hits. A couple times right where I was sitting he was lined up (once by Bertuzzi and once by Jovonovski). He waited right till the last second, made sure he made the play, the slipped away from the hit - which is a good thing to see in your scorers (keeps them healthy if they're not getting run). I would have liked to see the Bertuzzi/Cross fight actually go...... I would like to see both guy's faces re-arranged (Cross cause he's ungodly ugly, and Bertuzzi cause he's stupid and I hate him and he's ugly and maybe beating his head would smartin him up!!!)

I can't wait for Leafs fans: Travis Green for Hemsky and a 4th, c'mon that's way more than you can ever get for him, Hemsky's going to be too expensive to keep.

With the exception of one individual the Oilers salary woes should be nearing the end. Either we have a cap or we dont. If we don't, we wont have a team to worry about, and if we do, then there should be a structure in place that will allow us to keep ALL of our players.

Hemsky is ours to keep. So.... KMA!

While we are on the subject, who will Hemsky's line mates be? Will he be on a line with Smyth this year?

Interesting picture.

Now I know why Semenov wanted to fight Langdon last night.

Don't you wonder why in a game where his team was uninspired and being shut out Langdon wouldn't pounce on the opportunity to skool a 22 year old non-scrapper? Some "tough guy" he is.

thome_26 09-23-2003 07:48 PM

I'm sure Alexei could hold his own in a scrap. If he didn't let him get inside he could re-arrange his face quite drasticly!

He looked less than impressive fighting Scott Thornton last year. Langdon probably would have been a worse partner (?)

gretzky2kurri 09-23-2003 09:27 PM

I remember Semenov pounding someone in camp last year. It was a size mis-match though.

He's got the wing span of a 747. The player was eventually trying to break away....and Semi was reaching over him from behind and giving him shots from the other direction into the dudes face. It was pretty funny.

LoudmouthHemskyfan#1 09-23-2003 09:44 PM

I was about 30 feet away from that scene, and Semenov looked ready to rip Langdon apart, and Langdon wimped out, faking a laugh after looking like a deer in the headlights for a quick second there.
