Pit-Dal Ryder

If Dallas falls out of the playoff race what would it take to get Ryder out of Dallas since his contract is expiring this summer.

Here is a proposal. Too much? Not enough?

:pens

Michael Ryder

:stars

2nd round pick
B level prospect (Brian Dumoulin, Tom Kühnhackl, etc)

LatvianTwist 02-22-2013 12:09 PM

Bleuger?

Veilleux is a F type prospect. He is close to being a bust.

Dumoulin is close to being in the league ... not sure he is a B level guy.

That's a possibility but pens literally only have like 2 forward prospects worth mentioning and he is one of them so I doubt he gets moved.

Mr Misty 02-22-2013 12:32 PM

I'd rather get a first or a PMD prospect.

Yeah but we can draft one this year, the 1st round has plenty of forward talent. We need a sniper for Crosby's line, Ryder is 32 with Cup winning experience with the potential of being re-signed by the Penguins. That's more important to us than Blueger, while he's a decent forward prospect, we have Bennett, Sundqvist, Marcantuoni, Zlobin, etc.

What PMD prospect were you thinking of? We kinda have them coming out the wazoo and will likely get more provided we hold onto that 1st.

Pens might be able to do a PMD but I dont see Dallas getting a first for Ryder.

True, good points. Id be down for that.

Ryder-Crosby-Dupuis (I'd like to see a Right handed shot on the left side)
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Vitale-Adams

I'd want Morrow from the Pens for Ryder. I'd also consider Despres. Dallas needs a defenseman not another forward though for the right forward I'd certainly consider it.

Stop ... Ryder isn't getting either of those guys. If Morrow is going south, the guy that comes back starts with an "E" and is a Swede.

Niskanen for Ryder

Ryder isn't getting Morrow, but Eriksson for Morrow is just as silly.

Staying on topic though, I think Ryder moves regardless of Dallas' playoff position.

Whitney is coming back soon, and I think Dallas will have enough confidence in Matt Fraser to move Ryder by the trade deadline.

Provided he plays more often than not and gets the ice-time.

Dont think either of those guys would be moved for a rental not named Iginla or Perry.
How about Niskanen +? for Morrow and Ryder

WarriorScholar 02-22-2013 02:49 PM

It should only take a 2nd at most to get Ryder. He's a UFA....and it's not like he's Iginla/Perry who actually mean a lot to their teams. There's no doubt that Ryder not going to back to Dallas. The only thing that would make getting him cost more than a 2nd is to outbid another team.

By the way, I'm not sure stars want to deal with the pens after fleecing them two years ago. Unless its an overpayment

Captain Hook 02-22-2013 02:59 PM

Yeah, I think guys like Ryder usually go for a 2nd and a low ceiling prospect.

Zen Arcade 02-22-2013 03:08 PM

I'd give up a 2nd and a prospect, I wouldn't move Dumoulin in a deal like this, though.

The whole thought process and its not hard - If Morrow is going in a trade (Big IF - he is our top prospect), he isn't going for a rental. He would be going for a young legit top six forward in a package. That is why I mentioned Eriksson.

If they can improve their team, they'll trade with the Pens. A good PMD prospect for an impending UFA is a good deal and it's out of conference. Don't think Shero's on the wall of shame there.

Buying back Niskanen for actual value though, I would imagine that would be to much for JN to swallow.

Frozen Failure 02-22-2013 03:59 PM

I'd be cool with Dumolin.

Faidh ar Rud Eigin 02-22-2013 04:19 PM

I'm sure Pittsburgh could manage giving Dallas a low first for Ryder.

You can manage to ask for it, getting it from Shero would be another.
