Jackman Playing Game 616 Tonight.
 

Tonight is Jackman's 616th game with the Blues, moving him into 5th all time in games played. If he plays another 4 seasons at 75 games played, he could pass Bernie Federko as our all time leader in games played.

Here is my question, if Jackman plays another 4-5 seasons in St. Louis, and passes Bernie for our all time ges played, would you retire #5 at the Scottrade Center.

No I would not retire it, playing a bunch of games does not make you a great player. He is a mediocre defensman he does not deserve to have his number retired. Bernie's number is not retired because of the amount of games he played its because of his abilities and his stats.

Maybe honored, like the #5 already is, but he won't be retired.

And to the poster who said he is mediocre, he is way more than mediocre.

He will not have his number retired because he isn't what you would call a "fan favorite".

I would not retire his number. I'd definitely give him some sort of an honor when he retires, like a frame collage of his best moments, but getting your number retired should be more than just games played.

No, I wouldn't retire number 5 for Jackman. I don't have a problem honoring his number (much in the same way Bob Plager is honored), but it would be inconsistent to retire number 5 for Jackman without also retiring it for Plager.

#5 should be used by our longest tenured player, because I dont think plager and jackman are good enough to have their # retired, but they are worthy of some recoginition.

I'd love to see it retired simply to troll the haters.

Otherwise though, I don't think he has quite carved out the career it would take to consider a jersey retirement. If he continues to serve as an anchor on a blueline that happens to win a few Stanley Cups though, I wouldn't mind seeing the number honored in some way, as others have suggested.

The 616 is a huge number to be proud of. As of now, you don't retire it. BUT if he puts together a Salvador-like postseason run one of these playoff years and the Blues win their first Cup ... AND he's the all-time leader in games played ... I'd definitely not mind his number being retired.

Would laugh if his number is retired. But who knows, if he ends up playing til hes 40-41 and plays in like 750 more games with the Blues...
Hard not to retire a player who played 1300+ games for the franchise at 20 minutes a night.

The reality of Jackman's # being retired is nonsense, but you gotta respect his loyalty to the organization through thick and thin. You know what you're going to get out of him every night and reaching this milestone is a credit to his conditioning and committment to helping the Blues succeed. Even if he retires from the NHL with 1 trophy, the fact he beat out Zetterberg for Calder is a pretty decent accomplishment.

Agreed. And if they can retire Gassoff and Brian Sutter, they can retire Jackman...especially if he adds a few more significant milestones/achievements to his Blues' resume.

Could be a fair amount higher if he was healthier.

Congrats to Jax. Along with Sobotka, he's my favorite player. Love his work ethic and how he plays banged up.

I know Jackman has his detractors, but every coach who has been here during Jackman's tenure keeps playing him and playing him. That ought to tell you something. Injuries have diminished him some, but he is still a heart and soul guy. I never heard about him complaining after being passed over for captain. He is a class act.
