Chicago-Winnipeg

:hawks
Byfuglien
Little

:jets
Teravainen

Shaw
Frolik
Oduya

Very easy no from the Jets.

EbonyRaptor 02-23-2013 03:35 PM

No. On every level. Too big of a change to not disrupt chemistry of 14-0-3 team, not to mention Oduya-Hjalmarsson have been best d-pairing for the Hawks through these first 17 games. Then there is the Cap reality of what Byfuglien's $5.2M cap hit would mean for resigning Leddy, Kruger, Stalberg, Bickell, and even Little who will need a raise from the current $2.3M.

almostawake 02-23-2013 03:35 PM

Wouldn't interest the Jets at all.

sketch22 02-23-2013 03:49 PM

Awful for all involved.

The Jets give up the 2 best players in the deal for futures/role players and it screws the Hawks depth in the short term and the cap in the long term.

Just awful.

IU Hawks fan 02-23-2013 03:50 PM

Why in the world would the Hawks do this?

Tom ServoMST3K 02-23-2013 03:51 PM

Buff and Little are both better then any nhl'er coming back from the hawks

And apparently it is bad for the Hawks future as well, damn

HockeySensible 02-23-2013 03:52 PM

FFS.

1st, why is Winnepeg trading arguabley their best player and top centre for that package?

2nd, why is Chicago giving up TT, Shaw and their 1st for players they couldn't afford going forward - as in, next year?

Seriously. Just really, really bad.

Huffer 02-23-2013 04:43 PM

Terrible for Winnipeg.

King Woodballs 02-23-2013 04:56 PM

Safe to say both teams pass

Tayvaan 02-23-2013 05:03 PM

Why would the hawks change their lineup so dramatically in the middle of such a successful season?

Sarava 02-23-2013 05:14 PM

Big Buff is the guy I miss the most from the cup team. But yeah, this trade doesn't work.

He is a one of a kind player for sure

Blackhawkswincup 02-23-2013 05:28 PM

Buff is a terrible dman and he isn't worth his contract ,, Do not want that contract/player on team

Now if the Jets want to move Ladd then the Hawks should talk to them. Ladd is the guy who team has missed most from the cup

Wrong. Go watch the playoffs again. And I agree on buff as a dman, but he could always switch back to the wing.

Yes I have ,, He makes mistakes constantly defensively and is a waste playing dman

And Buff at 5.2M ,, No thanks Sarava and while Buff had a great playoff majority of credit for his play was his linemantes (Toews/Kane) who turned a bum like Brouwer into 40 pt guy in NHL

We're just going to have to disagree on this one. Kane and Toews have nothing to do with the havoc he caused the opposing goaltenders. And Ladd missed some time in the playoffs and the team was the same with or without him.

Buff and enstrom are the best offensive pair in the NHL

I prefer my defenders to play defense ,, Something Buff does not do well

A 50+ point d-man is way more valuable than a 50 point forward even with occasional defensive lapses (which have lessened considerably).

And to that last point about Kane and Toews helping Brouwer get 40 points: The "bum" scored only 7 points less without them last year and they raised his ppg from his career 0.44 ppg to to only 0.51 ppg. Don't know why you aren't giving Buff the credit he deserves for that playoff run.

By your first statement you clearly havent

Then by your logic, you wouldnt want Karlsson either then

deytookerjaabs 02-23-2013 07:34 PM

Huh, I've watched a few games with Buff this year and he seems to still be knocking guys off the puck in both zones. Not a pylon by any means, although he's not the guy you want racing back to catch up to an odd man rush.
