Would you want a Canadian team? Would you want Minnesota? Would you want to See Brandon play a game or maybe try to invite UND back up here for a game?

Minnesota Wild because they are the closest NHL city, so they will be in our division(whenever that happens), so we can create a rivalry with them. And they are a good hockey city. Or Chicago Blackhawks, same thing applies to them.

Chicago

Crazed Fan 02-25-2013 08:45 AM

Minnesota was my first choice. Seems to be the best suited future rival.

King Woodballs 02-25-2013 08:46 AM

Quebec Nordiques

I'd want to see Minnesota, Calgary, Edmonton or Ottawa (in order of preference). No Toronto/Montreal/Vancouver or O6 teams, thanks. Basically teams we can develop rivalries against that can handle the cold or at least an underappreciated Canadian teams (the Sens).

I'd love to see an annual winter game or bi-annual between the Jets and Wild. That would be a fun as balls time.

oooh, or the Markham Marauders :sarcasm:

Minnesota: I'm sure that a good number of Wild fans would make their way up to Winnipeg for a game. Good for building a rivalry in the (potential) new confence/divisional arrangement, IMHO.

GrandChelems 02-25-2013 09:40 AM

Moscow Central Red Army!

Nah, the Wild, of course.

dhfromkw 02-25-2013 09:40 AM

Minnesota. And hopefully we actually get a Heritage Classic within the next few seasons, it would be incredible.

Shakey Rustie 02-25-2013 10:05 AM

I go by the new stadium everyday for school, I can't wait for that bad boy to open its looking damn nice. And to answer the question, the Wild.

BigTuna49 02-25-2013 10:22 AM

Wild.

bigplay41 02-25-2013 10:29 AM

Wild. Like others said alternate the game 1 year at Investors Group Field the other at TCF Bank stadium on the gophers campus. Only problem I could see is that the gophers football stadium doesnt serve beer at games

Why not Target Field?

Conflicted Habs fan 02-25-2013 10:42 AM

I'd like to see how the Manitoba Bison would do against the Jets

For that and a few other reasons, I think Target Field would be the best venue, at least until the new Vikings stadium is completed around 2016/17.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I remember hearing they do serve alcohol at TCF Bank Stadium, it's just restricted to certain areas of the stadium to prevent underage drinking.

Vancouver Canucks. A canadian team that hasn't been in a game. Plus it was a great rivalry in the early 90's thanks to Peca's dirty late hit on Selanne at center ice.

It was a rivalry even before then. Those were some insanely physical series they had in '92 and '93.

Bob E 02-25-2013 11:12 AM

Chicago.

Wild.

Coyotes.

In that order for me. If it 'has' to be another Canadian team, I'd go for the young Oilers.

Grind 02-25-2013 11:14 AM

Minnesota, Chicago, Edmonton, Ottawa, in that order.

I like the idea of Edmonton because in my head, Edmonton becomes a skileld offensive powerhouse, while the jets have an incredible blue line, making for an exciting matchup of speed and skill versus speed and strength.... wether or not this is based in any sort of reality is up for interpretation.

Minnesota because i think we should be building a deep deep rivalry with them going forward.

Chicago as well, having towes on the other end make me hate them more

Bob E 02-25-2013 11:19 AM

Would also want the Wheat Kings playing TNSE's new WHL club, and an exhibition game between UND and a 'stacked' Bisons squad (alumni, etc).

But the real highlight might be the 'alumni' game. If the game was against the Wild, they could use old North Stars players (hartsburg, broten, modano, etc) and Jets 2.0 could old Jets 1.0 players (hawerchuk, steen, selanne, etc).

Folks from minnesota and ND would want to come to that game, I'm guessing.

truck 02-25-2013 11:32 AM

Is the MTS center an opponent? I want to watch the game in doors.

The Wild would be fun for an out door game though.

cutchemist42 02-25-2013 11:45 AM

Since the Minnesota Wild fans would be coming up, why not try inviting the Gophers hockey team too to play UND? I feel these events need more games then even 2 to make it worth the setup.

Also, TCF I think had trouble with piping during the winter at that Vikings game that had to be quickly handled? Anyone remember those specifics?

dcypher 02-25-2013 11:57 AM

For ***** and giggles... A Saskatchewan based team. lol..

Seriously though, Chicago, Minnesota or Montreal.
