Ryder traded to the Habs for Eric Cole

Kinda sucks. Thought we could get him back. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=416909

TheFerenceWheel 02-26-2013 05:28 PM

Ouch!

mashmont 02-26-2013 05:29 PM

Well, that's gonna be painful.

Always been a Ryder fan.. I guess not anymore..

Ladyfan 02-26-2013 05:32 PM

Bummer...I wanted Ryder back.

GordonHowe 02-26-2013 05:33 PM

I'm not certain I would have wanted him back beyond a shortened 48 game schedule & post season. But, MTL?

Not likin' it.

William Faulkner 02-26-2013 05:33 PM

I wonder why Dallas made that deal.

Braunbaer 02-26-2013 05:34 PM

That's just so ugly. Can't root for him anymore. :(

doubleminor138 02-26-2013 05:34 PM

Eric Cole? Too bad Bruins couldn't figure out a way to beat an offer of Eric freakin Cole.

WBC8 02-26-2013 05:39 PM

Chia still evaluating. 2 years 7 mil. We have carried Savards dead money the whole time and have replaced a solid cup winner with pouliot then bourque.

I will always like Michael for the excellent part that he played in the B's cup win. He and Seggy had some great chemistry and he was well liked by his team mates.

Also liked listening to him speak. My grandparents were also from Newfoundland

Booooooo

jmeehan1985 02-26-2013 05:43 PM

Makes me wonder if PC will now make a useless trade like Rolston last year when everyone has there hopes up for something else.

LyricalLyricist 02-26-2013 05:43 PM

I prefer Cole(of last year) but habs took no risks with the contract and moved it.

Cole has been less than spectacular this year but his game in close is phenonemal. Loves to crash and always gets an extra gear in close. It really helped montreal to have a guy who isn't afraid of traffic but at same time, that contract isn't looking good.

I don't really see the connection. Ryder going to Montreal means Boston won't do anything significant?

SPLBRUIN 02-26-2013 05:48 PM

That's too bad, kinda hoping we would get him back. It will be interesting to see how Ryder fares this time around in Montreal, at his best Cole is the better player, but this year Ryder was clearly outperforming him.

Bmessy 02-26-2013 05:49 PM

Why would people want him back?
His game didn't fit with our system. He may be able to score 35 in Dallas but in Boston defensive responsibility is important. Most guys score up to their potential when they are let loose and don't have to try in all 3 zones.
Same thing with Pouliot. 'Omg why did we let him go, he's got like 15 pts' I could score atleast 10 if I played with St. Louis and Lecavalier.

DKH 02-26-2013 05:49 PM

Ouch!!!! Wow this is one of my guys. Great move by the Habs been watching Ryder for 2 yrs and most improved player for that age I've seen since Keenan got his hands on Adam Creighton

No I just think Ryder was on there trade list and Montreal out of no where traded for him.

Gee Wally 02-26-2013 05:51 PM

As I said in the trade/signing thread, this is nothing more than a smart salary dump by the Habs.

Oh......where was all this Ryder love while he was here?

bruins04 02-26-2013 05:51 PM

mtl got a pretty good deal... at least we get to see Ryder this season? this weekend

neelynugs 02-26-2013 05:51 PM

one less trade target. too bad - thought he was a great fit for a cup run. one good thing is that erik cole won't be running our goalies over as often.

He was a beast in the playoffs

The Dangly One 02-26-2013 05:52 PM

Thank lord he wasn't coming back. Never understood the fascination for bringing him back.

OK, that makes sense. I never really thought they were considering bringing him back but who knows?

I'm sure you know more about hockey than me, but I could not disagree more; I been amazed at his consistency and how he has played.

I think his game EXACTLY fits our system and he is a guy that can play all three lines and on the PP.

I like his defensive game and the things I been hearing about him since he's left about how committed he is to overall training and preparation.

As for Pouliot, no interested. Ryder completely different story.

Great move by the Habs...me and Godfather have Cole on our SIM team so I watch him all the time as well, and Ryder is a better player imo
