The inevitible climb to 9th begins

G:
-Bounces. We finally got some. Pouliot hitting the upper-90. Stamkos missing the open net on the PP. Our first goal off the defenseman's skate.
-Miller. Thought he may be in for a long night after that first one. Recovered well and had some big saves in the 3rd.
-VHP. Back on form for one night, anyways. Especially liked the VH portion of that line.
-Sekera was excellent tonight.
-Actually, most of the defense was excellent tonight. Noticed Regehr imposing himself a bit, as well. Outside of a few Myers brainfarts, they were a really good group tonight.
-Ott and Kaleta were very good this evening.

B:
-Some of Myers' brainfarts. Gotta cut those out.
-The Foligno Dangle. Someone needs to follow the Harry Neale idea of punching him in the face if he continues doing that.
-Not Ennis' best game. Nor Stafford's. Nor Foligno's.
-Grigs isn't ready. The wraparound was nice, but he's so lost. He's like a wounded puppy. I actually am feeling bad for him.

U:
-The penalty disparity.
-Not much else. We won.

Best game Pominville has played in a while. Still would like to see him get more involved offensively...but the defensive zone play was much, much closer to what we expect from him. Was solid on the PK too. That's a good sign.

Some really stupid penalties. Myers is playing lazy...the goal is nice, but he's not moving his feet defensively, he's playing the puck not the man...he's got to start using his feet more than his reach.

And for the love of all things holy, can we ban Foligno from trying to stickhandle? My god, he scares me more than Miller right now when he tries to deke a defender--and Miller playing the puck is nearly heart-attack inducing to begin with. Marcus, if you read this...dump the puck in, win battles along the board, hit people, go to the front of the net. That's your job...leave the fancy stuff to guys who can actually do it.

I think it's obvious to all of us that this team has major problems, and I highly doubt anyone would think one win changes that. If someone wants to point that out in every post, that's their prerogative, but it really isn't adding to the discussion...it's just stating the obvious.

And so begins the long march to mediocrity.
