Matt Hunwick

Matt Hunwick's basically our number 1 dman now, I think all Avs fans would agree (until EJ gets back). Hunny as he's affectionately known is a very mobile puck moving dman with decent defensive instincts as well. He had his first year struggles but he's great now. He's able to rush the puck into the other team's zone repeatedly and though his numbers aren't great, I'm sure he'll start racking up the assists on a better team. His value's at a high and we'll have more young dmen coming in the following year so I'm wondering what he'd be worth with his bargain contract expiring in 2014. I'd say a good 2nd but Avs wouldn't mind an upgrade over one of the pylons we have in the back end.

Maybe even a cap dump to help a team like Philadelphia out. Hunwick <--> Meszaros plus a pick or something.

What do you think HF? What would you give for a speedy dman who's finally reaching his potential and can play 20-24 mins?

Ha. Ha Ha... there never has been such an accurate term as x player for a bag of pucks until Hunny came around.

Elever 02-27-2013 11:31 AM

But he's so agile.

Correction, he is both agile and a beast.

Oh and by the way, DO NOT visit our game day threads!!!

I'd trade Matt Hunwick for a conditional 7th round pick and it would be weeks before I stopped smiling.

Freudian 02-27-2013 11:49 AM

He is fast and has a very marketable face.

This is probably the only way we'd get a player in exchange that was not a AHL lifer.

WhiteMandingo 02-27-2013 12:29 PM

Hunwick has no value.

Ivan13 02-27-2013 12:36 PM

He's awful 99% of the time (because he's forced to play over his head, he's a servicable 3rd pairing d-man) and then he makes one of his trademark rushes up the ice and you're left wondering WTF just happened.

ToddRundgren 02-27-2013 12:37 PM

One puck. No logo on it.

Bubba Thudd 02-27-2013 12:37 PM

I hope Mark (or whatever Hunwick's first name is) doesn't see this thread. It would crush him.

datbwoymjp 02-27-2013 12:42 PM

Straight up for Dan Cleary.

Avs won't trade with Detroit and Vancouver as long as Pierre Lacroix is their preseident.

It's actually Martholemeau, that's why everyone just calls him HunnyBunny.

Wrong, he has a six pack.

Plus he has a hot bod automatically gaining attendance of the team that gets him with girls between the ages of 20 to 26.

ChibiPooky 02-27-2013 04:31 PM

Avs need to add.

Look at that face, that sells tickets. 1st round for Hunwick seems fair.

Damn! He looks like he could be on one of the many versions of CSI or something.

Nah too classy and handsome for those shows. He gets countless offers to star on every season of The Bachelor, but he has to turn it down because of how good of a defenseman he is.

falconski 02-27-2013 06:57 PM

Bozak and a 2nd

Banana Sandwiches 02-28-2013 12:09 AM

Granted, I haven't seen him much in Colorado besides NBC Network games, but he was horrible as a Bruin. I don't think he has much value, but he would probably fetch something ridiculous like a 2nd round pick if he was traded.

Frankie Spankie 02-28-2013 08:22 AM

Good luck if he's your #1 defenseman at any given moment in time.

I feel bad for him because he was looking really good when he first started. It's sad that all these seasons later, almost half of his career points came from a 53 game season where he had his spleen removed. And now here we are 200 games after the fact and he's barely matched what he did in that short time.

well, Tyson Barrie is our best healthy defenseman, but Hunwick has compromising pictures of Joe Sacco, so he gets the #1 time
