GDT: Eastern Conference | February 27, 2013

We fully understand that there are many neutral fans who watch and take great interest in what goes on in NHL games that do not involve their own team. These threads will be mainly for neutral fans, and fans of the teams involved are encouraged to post on their respective team forum GDT's. However, this will not be a hard and fast rule.

This will not preclude new threads on significant events which take place in a game but "significant" will be decided by our moderators and these threads could be closed and the talk redirected back to the GDT. These GDT's will be closed at the conclusion of the last game.

Also, please be aware that this is a neutral forum and the additional protections that home fans receive on their own forums do not apply here.

Since multiple games are being discussed use the quote feature or be specific in your post.

Today's games:

Montreal v. Toronto 7:30pm EST

Washington v. Philadelphia 7:30pm EST

Montreal vs Toronto should be a good game.

Black and Gold 02-27-2013 12:19 PM

I just hope someone wins the Montreal vs. Toronto game in regulation.

I'm pretty sure it will. Leafs have not played an OT game yet, here's hoping it stays that way. Can't stand OT, especially S/O's.

 The NE is so surprisingly tight in points, I say this all the time when OTT, TOR, BOS, and BUF play. It's such an exciting division race this year.

sharks9 02-27-2013 12:45 PM

Hopefully we can win tonight to get some separation between us and the Leafs! Up by 5 points with a game in hand would be nice.

charlie460 02-27-2013 12:47 PM

Caps/Flyers is a "rivalry" now apparently.

EveryDay 02-27-2013 12:53 PM

Toronto will win 9-0.

"Frattin scores, and the Leafs beat the Sabres in overtime!"

:p

I love watching the MTL and TOR fans rip each other's eyes out. Ottawa is like a buffer zone or something.

Shrimper 02-27-2013 01:16 PM

Leafs and Caps.

Whoops  I don't think I watched that game.

I don't know what to expect from Leafs & Habs game, can easily go both ways since habs are looking for some sweet revenge. Hoping for a Leafs win, of course.

GeneralSwell 02-27-2013 01:37 PM

When the Leafs win tonight, they will have more wins than the habs but fewer points. Stupid loser points:rant:

Sorry if the Habs were tied with their opposition after 60 minutes and lost on 3 occasions. I don't see how it's a "loser point" though, I see it more as an extra point to the winner. Back in the day if there was no winner after 65 minutes it was a point a piece, then again if a team won they took home both points leaving the other team with nothing.

Either way, I think it shows a lot when all 3 of those "loser points" are 2 blown leads and a total domination that faced a red hot goalie.

I hope the Habs win it tonight in regulation, by more than a goal and I think they will.

One more win with the Habs having a game in hand.

1. Old Patrick Division Foes
2. Recent Playoff Matchups
3. Old Playoff Matchups
4. Washington-Philadelphia Rivalry - Skins/Eagles, Nats/Phillies (burgeoning), Wiz/Sixers (haha)
5. Close Proximity

LeafOfBread 02-27-2013 02:50 PM

Brace yourselves mods. This might get really ugly tonight.

Yeah it's not a rivalry. I don't know what the hell NBC is thinking on that one.

Ryp37 02-27-2013 03:14 PM

Looking forward to this Leafs Habs game

Tinalera 02-27-2013 03:51 PM

I know all the teams are playing weird schedules, but after tonight and Tomorrow's game against the Isles, Toronto will have played 22 games before taking three days off, meanwhile a team like Boston has only played like 15 or 16.

Schedules have made for some interesting disparity in amount of games played this season:laugh:

Hello Newman* 02-27-2013 04:02 PM

call me crazy but i think the Caps are about to go on a tear and gonna be in the playoff spot by the end of next week. They looked completely dominant against a good Carolina team yesterday, not to mention they beat a great Devils team 5-2 couple of days ago.

Might have to call in the Canadian Army here for a certain game tonight.
