I'm very glad we matched, but this would have been hilarious for CAL.

Dark Knight 03-01-2013 12:01 PM

Feaster and his staff deserve to get heat.

Mike Jones 03-01-2013 12:01 PM

I thought this loophole was closed with the most recent CBA.

Alklha 03-01-2013 12:01 PM

Might be a bit of an obscure slant on the rule, but Feaster has got to know the situation before submitting the offer.

cyril* 03-01-2013 12:01 PM

This would have been awesome. Feaster is a moron :biglaugh:

InfinityIggy 03-01-2013 12:02 PM

Well then.....seriously?

Sadly I don't think they will. Too many people are describing the move as being "bold".

I'd use other words...

Would the Flames have been able to keep him if they kept him off the roster before 2013-2014?

Luigi Lemieux 03-01-2013 12:03 PM

Is this really true..it's almost too absurd to believe. If this is true, the Flames owner should fire the gm immediately. Embarrassing really.

CorsiCounter 03-01-2013 12:04 PM

Gonna be a conspiracy theorist here, bute what if there was a bit of collusion going on and this was all done to get O'Reilly back to reduce the cost of Stastny. Very unlikely but wouldn't surprise me from a lawyer like Feaster.

ScottFC 03-01-2013 12:04 PM

Would the Avalanche have been able to claim him after?? Cause that would have been hilarious!!

deckercky 03-01-2013 12:04 PM

Just as big of an issue for the Avs. Had they mentioned that ahead of time, the risk of offer sheets is removed and they own RoR on their terms.

Again, I remember something being said about this being changed in the new CBA but someone more knowledgable can set us straight on that.

Timbo Slice 03-01-2013 12:04 PM

Feaster is just too funny.

TylerSVT* 03-01-2013 12:04 PM

This is brutal optics wise for the Flames.

We are turning into Kevin Lowe territory of bad management.

PyrettaBlaze* 03-01-2013 12:05 PM

Feaster needs to be fired.

TSNBobMcKenzie:
For those asking, yes, my understanding is if COL hadn't matched CGY offer on O'Reilly, CGY would have had to put him on waivers to play now

TSNBobMcKenzie:
What's fascinating is that a change in the new CBA is all that separated COL from having to put O'Reilly on waivers now to get him in lineup

What would Uncle Feaster get out of this?

momo 03-01-2013 12:05 PM

Colorado should have accepted 1st and 3rd then try to get him back on waivers ;)

sansabri 03-01-2013 12:05 PM

how come we didn't hear about this sooner?

better question: if this is true, how did the Flames org. completely ignore this???

True - but he must be doing what the owners want.

Telos 03-01-2013 12:06 PM

Yikes. Serious oversight by Calgary. They are very lucky.

LOL! Would have been a nice move but who is above them on the waiver claim order? I can't see him go past 1 or 2 if that ever happened.

ScoreZeGoals 03-01-2013 12:08 PM

This is a fireable offense in my opinion.

He would get claimed by Columbus no doubt.

King In The North 03-01-2013 12:08 PM

"If he actually played in the KHL after the start of the NHL season on January 19"

Does someone actually know if he played after the season started?
