Toronto and St. Louis Talking Trade? Kulemin Involved?

It's Andy Strickland, who is particularly hit-or-miss sometimes, but it's interesting

Sources out of Toronto have the Blues and Maple Leafs on each other’s radar. One player whose name continues to pop up is forward Nikolai Kulemin.
Quote:

Toronto could be interested in a young player which may include former first round picks Schwartz and/or D-man Ian Cole.
Quote:

The Blues would certainly need a D-man in return if they were to move Cole. Toronto has a surplus with nine D-men having played at least two games this season. One would think they’d like to create a spot for Jake Gardiner.

Kulemin for Schwartz doesn't seem probable, and I'm not sure how Kulemin for Cole helps out the Leafs. Interesting to think about, though.

Liles would make sense to be included, I'd think. Maybe a Liles + Kulemin package for something?

bleedblue1223 03-01-2013 05:52 PM

If Schwartz is being moved, Dion or Gardiner should be involved.

If Cole's involved, then Dion, Gardiner, or Gunnarsson will have to be involved just to make sense roster wise.

Liles doesn't fit. We need someone more physical and better defensively.

PensBandwagonerNo272 03-01-2013 05:54 PM

At least one other significant piece has to be added to Kulemin for Cole.

I just don't see any situation where Schwartz is moved, unless its for a huge upgrade (which Toronto can't/won't provide).

omg if we could somehow get Schwartz, I'd be ecstatic.

I wonder what the plus would have to be with Kulemin to get Cole AND Schwartz.

You mean, in a thread where I say that the Leafs and Blues aren't good trading partners, this pops up? No, I'm not buying this rumour to protect my own opinion. We're not good trading partners. Blues fans, back me up here

I was just thinking the same thing.

I definitely think Kulemin is movable but I rather not see him go unless we are getting a good forward with responsible defensive game or either a good defensive d-man.

Would Liles + Kulemin net us Steen?
I had love to get him back here.

BigDaddyLurch 03-01-2013 05:56 PM

Komisarek + Kulemin for...hmmm?

You would really welcome an overpaid pylon like Phaneuf to your team?

For that cap hit I'd pass if I'm the Blues.

Maybe Kulemin and Gardiner would get you Steen and that's a maybe.

Is Schultz really that good or valuable? I know he was a very good player in WJC and he has a high end hockey IQ.

Considering Komisarek has negative value, for a 5th.

Warden of the North 03-01-2013 05:57 PM

Kulemin fits STL system to a T. But it will take a significant piece to get him

As long as it stays simple, maybe, otherwise probably not.

Kulemin would fit with us, and Gunnarsson would fit. Why is Gardiner in the minors.

If, and that's a big if Strickland is right, and Schwartz is being mentioned, I'd imagine it would be for Gardiner. Two young big potential guys.

SplitLeaf 03-01-2013 06:00 PM

Cole wouldnt make sense, leafs do not need more left hand defenseman.

Feel The Rush 03-01-2013 06:00 PM

I don't know why but i have a feeling Toronto may be interested in Berglund.

Big potential and he is cost-controlled. He is developing a 2-way game, so that's why his production is low. It looks like he will be getting his chance in the top 6 with our injuries though.

I wouldn't move him for Kulemin.

Should; but absolutely won't. I hope you see the obvious reasons why, especially Dion. And as for Cole, why would either team do what you outlined? It's not as if any of these players need a change of scenery.

While I refute the rumour still, it HAS to be for someone else other than Schwartz or Cole.

Has he been that bad, haven't watched him in awhile.

I can understand that but I don't think he is worth either Gardiner or Phaneuf.

Hahaha wow does your username ever suit you.

I can't see us being good trading partners, I'd do Schwartz for Kulemin, doubt blues would though. No way you're getting Gardiner though, unless for an overpayment.

A big Swede who if he turns out to be even half the player our old big Swede was, would be a very good piece. I'd like that.
