Andrew Ference to Western Conference

Hasn't done that well this year in Boston maybe a change of scenery is in order. What would a western conference team offer for him?

I think he may be a contract throw in as part of another deal, since the number of contracts being traded rarely has a difference of more than 1 anymore.

That said I would like him back on Calgary next year. So maybe we could move Stempniak and Smith (or Sarich) to Boston for a 2nd in 2013 and Ference.

Wouldn't mind him at Minnesota, he could be a great mentor for our young blueliners. What are you looking for him, would P-M Bouchard be of any interest? And just to make sure, Ference is an UFA this summer, right?

Ference is the type of player teams covet at the deadline. A solid top 4 defenseman, veteran rental that's cheap is a player GMs drool over.

Should fetch you at least a mid-prospect and a first, or a good prospect and 2nd. Teams will overpay for him at the deadline for sure.

Every year he ends up as the whipping boy on D.

His on ice play leadership and locker room presence is a bit underrated.

Ference has been terrible this season. Not a whipping boy I can recall 3-4 goals because of him. Probably more.

I thinks the B's record stinks when he is out of the lineup.

Calgary has never been the same since Ference was traded away. He was one of the most important guys in the locker room, and always showed an incredible amount of heart on the ice. Any team looking for leadership for a playoff push should be looking at this guy.

Terrible? Not in the least.

Sorry, but I totally disagree with you. I really think he has been ok and I love his leadership/teamwork skills.

This is exactly the reason I don't want the Bruins to let him go....

This would be an ideal way to move David Jones (who needs a change too IMO) + one of our Depth Dman or a conditional pick depending on if Ference resigns, but Jones' value currently is at an all time low. Ference would be a possible stop gap partner for EJ until Avs find someone else. Jones is a scoring 2nd/3rd line winger at this point.
