5th in Goals For!

Wow, I though we're a team that doesn't score much.. we have 68 GF, the highest being 77 by Pens.

Suprised :nod: :handclap::yo:

GF stands for Goals For

But yeah, didn't expect us to do this well!

Impossible, we play the trap.

hototogisu 03-04-2013 09:15 AM

Fixed your title as yeah, I believe you meant "goals for".

8th in goal against

Yeah I love this stat:nod:

I'm amazed how good we are at even strenght this year. Only Chicago have a better goal for/against ratio at even strenght. We're at 1.45 while chicago is at 1.61 (INCREDIBLE start for the btw).

It says a lot on a team, character and efficiency to name a few qualities, and I believe honestly (or at least I hope) we're not playing our best game on special units, especially on pk (we finished second last year with a bottom 10 team). IF we get a tad better on special units, I think this season could end in the summer on a win, if you know what I mean:amazed:

6th to be exact: http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm...ewName=summary

Our offence hasn't even hit all cylinders yet in my estimation.

This is the stat that really has me excited. The fact that we can actually score goals will make our lives so much easier in the future. I'm pretty shocked by this too. I could've seen this happening in a year or two but for us to already be scoring at a high pace is great.

Our power play is only 11th too, which means its doing its job more than we realize, but it's not the reason we are scoring goals as it was in 07/08. We were first in the league in GF that year, but were absurdly power play dependant.

This team is actually able to score 5 on 5.

The way I see it, it's the effect of having 3 balanced scoring lines. Take Boston for example, they would ideally have Bergeron and Chara on the ice against the other teams big guns I would assume, but when the scoring is balanced throughout 3 lines, somewhere those lines are getting an easier match up throughout the game.

Even better is our ability to play the dump and chase effectively this year. In most situations you'd expect the opposition to throw out their best defensive unit for defensive zone draws, especially when the game is coming down to the wire. The fact that we can actually regain possession at even strength after dumping the puck in allows one of our 3 scoring lines to work the puck in the Ozone vs a weaker defensive unit from the opposition.

It really reminds me of the year we picked up Lang. At the beginning of the season we were doing extremely well, and in that instance as well, it was due to having 3 balanced scoring lines imo.
We started off the year hot, but then guys started getting injured left and right, and things never got back on track. We didn't really get healthy enough to run 3 scoring lines in that season IIRC.
