Ryan White

His faceoff stats seem decent, has solid toughness...

How is his skating?

Can he be a solid 4th line Center?

Reminds me of the Joe Vitale thread. Probably a player who gives enough to his current team that it makes no sense to trade him for what other teams are probably going to offer. He's still just a 4th liner at the end of the day, after all.

White seemed to be trying too hard to make an impression with toughness early on this season, which got him into the pressbox for indiscipline. Since then, he has been surprisingly constrained. He doesn't make a huge contribution, yet, but he does seem like a reasonable 4th line player. He may not have abundant natural skills, or size, but will drop the gloves as a middleweight, and has a bit of puck sense lingering from his junior resume.

I think what he really needs to do is add some real serious agitation element to his game. He's tough enough to back it up once in awhile, but he could try harder to be a little "cheap" and get under the skin of his opponents more. He does ok as a penalty killer.

Speed has been an issue for him coming up through the ranks, but I think he has reached a basic level of adequacy there. He just has to remember to hustle on every shift. If he hustles, he holds his own.

He IS a solid 4th line center, for the most part. Can't see him being available apart from an upgrade in toughness/fighting on the 4th line that can still keep up with the game. And there's no chance he brings that in.

If it was him + for a bigger, tougher guy, then I'd see him being dealt.

White's value to the Habs is higher than the minimal pick he would garner. He brings toughness and a willingness to fight to our 4th line. He is not someone other teams would or should offer enough value to make it worthwhile trading him. His type can be found on waivers or as UFA every year, so nobody should pay what it would make sense to get the Habs to give him up.

If someone had a young, heavyweight kind of fighter who could skate and play on the 4th line, or as a defenceman, then maybe White + could be worked out. If anyone wants to make such an offer, let's talk!

Are you kidding. Bélanger is done. You won't have a 24 y.o. center for him.

Belanger is not what we need. We can not afford another small center. Especially in exchange for one of the guys on our team who hits and fights. Thanks for the offer, though.

Haha, fair enough. Love White's game, has he solidified his roster spot this season? Only 20 last year, been sat a few this season. Who's he battling it out with now?

once Dumont is ready to bring up. White is leaving.

Beendair Donedat 03-04-2013 05:10 PM

Well, since White can play wing, I see Moen - Dumont -White next year.

ginovegas 03-04-2013 05:40 PM

White is an awesome 4th line center
has grit and toughnes
decent at the circle
and can also play right wing

would like to see a guy like parros on his right wing against heavy weight goon teams

White is gold. He's solid defensively, he's solid along the board, he's solid on the forecheck, he's tough as nails, he's crazy as crap, he skates good, has some offensive upside(scored 40 in th CHL), he's good in the dot, he's a righty and he fights.

What more can we ask for ?

Oh and he's young!
