excellent news.

Leafs fans are going to be happy Morrison drafted this fine lad, got it all, skill, grit, size, and character.

Budsfan 03-04-2013 05:37 PM

he is certainly one of our best prospects and will be a good addition.

Dangles McGavin 03-04-2013 05:37 PM

Cool. One of my favourite prospects for sure. Brings a lot to the table, but has a long way to go. I like the improvements we've seen from him since drafting him though. Josh has top-six upside, and IMO has NHL written all over him.

Nice! Whats his signing bonus?

Schenn 03-04-2013 05:41 PM

Great. He has looked good this season!

DirtyDion03 03-04-2013 05:42 PM

Nice. Getting him ready to play for the Marlies.

LordRamsay 03-04-2013 05:45 PM

Beauty. This kids a keeper

fahad203 03-04-2013 05:47 PM

So it means he can't now play in the Marlies?

81snipe 03-04-2013 05:48 PM

Nice! Kid seems to have good potential and continues to get better, love it!

FishManSam 03-04-2013 05:48 PM

It means he can play with the Marlies, once his OHL season is over. ;)

Persuasion 03-04-2013 05:50 PM

Bumped into him before a Rangers game this season (pre game mode...not a meet and greet or anything). Seemed like a good kid and was rather friendly (rare to see in OHL kids these days). He didn't exactly save someones life but its nice to know.

blasted_Sabre 03-04-2013 05:51 PM

Im guessing so he can play with Marlies after his JR team is done.

Leafidelity 03-04-2013 05:51 PM

This is excellent news

snizzbone 03-04-2013 05:52 PM

His JR team is gonna go far in the playoffs so don't expect to see him up with the Marlies anytime soon.

Not if they run into the knights.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that they have signed forward Josh Leivo to a three-year NHL Entry Level contract.

The left-winger recorded 19 goals and added 25 assists for 44 points in 34 games while serving as an alternate captain with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) this season. He later joined Kitchener in a trade on January 8, 2013. He currently has seven goals and 15 assists in 23 games for the Rangers. Overall, his 40 assists, 66 points, and +22 mark leads Kitchener players in all three categories. He is currently tied for 18th in OHL points. Leivo was named OHL Player of the Week for the period ending October 7, 2012 after scoring six goals in three games with a +5 mark.

Leivo, 19, was Toronto’s third choice, 86th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Not trying to be a smart alec, but a very good one that is only getting better. I think he is already a better prospect than Matt Puempel his Kitchener teammate, and that one was a first rd pick.
