Tweener C/W to Vancouver

With Kesler out again and Schroeder having been relegated go the 4th line and Burrows now locked on the Sedin line, we could really use a forward able to play centre who can also slot to wing when Kesler comes back. Currently we have Mason Raymond as our 2C, and while he's done as well as can be expected given it's his first time being tried at centre, he gets killed in the faceoff dot and his north-south game is much better suited to wing anyways.

Most probably it would be a tweener like maybe Read or Eller, but if we could get someone like Flippula or Ribeiro at a decent price, that might be worth looking into as well.

Core pieces are off the table; if we move a roster player it would most likely be Ballard or Booth, with ideally the value coming from futures(Jensen only in a package for a star player, every other prospect/pick is fair game)

Who do you have and what do you want?

Canadian Gold X3 03-05-2013 11:37 AM

I'd add Brassard, too

What's he worth to the Jackets right now? Would a change of scenery trade around Booth(+)? for Brassard make sense?

CREW99AW 03-05-2013 11:58 AM

In 3-4 weeks, you can likely get Boyes for a 3rd.

Booth looks like he has been playing better last couple of games, so it's hard to say we would trade at this point. But the fact of the matter the Canucks will have to move a forward or send Schroeder back to minors.

Brassard

For

2nd
Rodin

Picks and prospects probably work better for Columbus at this point.

I think a guy like Steve Ott would fit well with the Canucks as a 3C once Kesler comes back.

Could be, but don't think Buffalo wants to off load players yet. They are like Calgary and still think they will make playoffs.

Dustin Jeffrey for who?

SnS 03-05-2013 12:39 PM

Read isn't what you are asking for and we value him a ton more then what you're offering.

Ott's also signed through next season, so Buffalo has no reason to move him.

Not sure the Canucks need yet another tweener, although I do think Brassard in a Canuck uniform would look pretty good.

Most of us wanted Ott and were tossing around offers until the Sabres swooped in. If they are entertaining the time - which I doubt. I'd be all for it, depending on the price.

Since Detroit is looking for defense, something with Ballard and picks/prospects for Flippula might be worth looking into.

Want a 2nd line centre so Kesler is relied on less offensively.

With Weiss out Rebiero is my target with Boyes as a plan B.

Sounds like you guys might like Jussi Jokinen.

To be honest, I have no idea. Probably forward prospects, picks, or as part of a deal to get a top 6 forward.

Has all year, except for the last 2 or 3 games. Riley Nash has stepped up at center, for now. I'll say this, Jokinen is A LOT better at wing than he is at center.

Could look at a deal around Ballard for Jokinen.

I think that's underpayment, personally, but with the way players have been going for right now(like Gagne for a 5th), who knows?

Seatoo 03-05-2013 01:20 PM

Ott
Nielsen
Fillpulla

Got a good grade on Hockey's Future. Offensive upside: fast skater and good hands. From Europe, has had some difficulty adjusting to North American game, but was also bothered by shoulder injury for quite some time. He is fully healthy now, former 2nd round pick playing in AHL.
