Make room for Montador?

sketch22 03-06-2013 03:12 PM

Any word on why? Doesn't make sense unless Monty or Olesz are coming off LTIR today.

Illinihockey 03-06-2013 03:14 PM

Kuc said its likely because Montador is going to be added to the roster.

Wasted Years 03-06-2013 03:14 PM

Curious as well. Not going to miss Bollig though.

CS85 03-06-2013 03:18 PM

We'll certainly miss his ability to punch things. Or not.

RayP 03-06-2013 03:20 PM

Won't miss him a bit and hope he doesn't come back. Guy can't play hockey, and all he does is fight in staged fights, which I also hate.

I did do one or two 'protection' fights. But he is a one trick pony that does not fit on this team.

ITA. I really don't like him at all. I wished they'd tried to trade him...but honestly what would we get back?

If we have room for a guy like that on the roster, at least give Beach a chance (and I don't even like Beach!).

...and Bollig's not even all that good at fighting.

Illinihockey 03-06-2013 03:32 PM

He hit a little bit too. 8 defensemen are too many to carry. Wish they'd just tell Montador to leave and then buy him out at the end of the year.

digdug41982 03-06-2013 03:32 PM

Bollig is a decent enough skater for a striaght tough guy but we can do better with the roster spot.

But we aren't. I think Bollig is more valuable than Montador and his egg shell head.

I'm guessing Q will keep playing Brookbank at forward in a pinch. :badidea: I guess Monty too for that matter.

I agree that 8 is too many. If it was to be a D I would think Brookbank would go down but I don't remember if he has a 2-way or not.

Cullksinikers 03-06-2013 03:37 PM

Montador is back or there is a depth move coming.

Monty being back is the safe guess, but Stanley did put in a claim on Sestito.

digdug41982 03-06-2013 03:40 PM

If Hamrlik got claimed, I think there might be a market for Monty if he shows he is healthy.

I just don't see how he shows that he's healthy. He's missed a large part of the last 2 seasons. Even if he plays 5 or 10 games, thats not going to be enough.

He'd have to clear waivers, been in the league way more than 150 games or whatever. Contracts don't matter when it comes to this, contrary to common belief. All that matters is games played.

Anything is possible. If a bubble team loses a couple of d-men to injury they might be willing to take Monty for "future considerations" or a 7th.

I do not think he would clear. Someone would pick him up.

I'd be surprised if anyone would give anything at all for him, but if they do, then take whatever they offer even if just a 6th round pick.

moose vasko 03-06-2013 03:52 PM

Monty returning would give us 3 right-sided defenseman for the bottom pairing. I think that is called a logjam. And then there's his play which is notable primarily for his spectacular blowouts. The only upside I see bringing him in would be to showcase him and try to move him to a team desperately short of defenseman and sound judgement.

DisgruntledHawkFan 03-06-2013 03:54 PM

Meh. Bollig should be happy with the cup of coffee.
