I would pass, it would leave a pretty big hole on defense. After Letang and Martin, Niskanen is our jack of all trades defenseman with Despres. He's consistent and the Pens need any help they can get with that with how Bylsma's system is. Having a good defenseman like him minimizes the stupidity that is our coach's system.

I like Jokinen, but not at the cost of Niskanen.

Are you trying to say Niskanen wouldn't get Jokinen and this is some kind of troll post?

TorstenFrings 03-06-2013 05:00 PM

I see some good in Jokinen's game even though this hasn't been a good season for him so far, but he isn't really the kind of forward we need. Is/plays too small to really displace anyone in the top6. Rather have Nisky.

Ha. I guess all your posts are that of a troll , since you clutter this board with trade offers such as a 2nd and Kennedy for that teams top player.

But anyways, niskanen for jokinen isn't that uneven. Fair offer. Was having fun with them considering they never liked Orpik after that hit on Cole.

Zbynek 03-06-2013 06:16 PM

Niskanen is having a great season and is a good fit for our system, but I still think he is expendable if it means bringing in a top-6 guy. Jokinen has always struck me as a great playmaker with smooth hands, especially playing with the right players. Playing on the 3rd line right now in Carolina, he isn't getting that opportunity.

Put him on a line with Crosby and Kunitz and the guy will blow up. He's a consistent 30A+ player who's a few years removed from a 30 goal season. When you add in the fact he's signed through next season on a cool 3mil contract, he's an intriguing possibility.

I just think instead of looking for a veteran stopgap for Crosby's wing, the Penguins should look for a younger playmaker like Jussi.

The ONLY reason it hasn't been his year is because he was having to play center. He's recently been moved back to wing and has started scoring again.

You probably watch more Canes games, so I am going to have to trust you on this. As I said though, the kind of player he is more than his (perceived by me) current slump is the reason I'd rather have Nisky anyway.

How about just Kennedy for Larose?

I don't think Jokinen is the type of forward they'd be looking for and Sanguinetti would just be another guy sitting because of the logjam at defense.

Pens need to get a little bigger, something neither Jokinen or LaRose bring, and Sanguinetti would be nice if we didn't have so many already.

Worse case scenario a switch of Kennedy and LaRose +6th would be fine.

If the Pens traded TK to the Canes, he'd end up in Washington.

SEALBound 03-06-2013 10:05 PM

How about:

Sutter+Dumoulin+Pouliot

for

Staal

?

Roboturner913 03-07-2013 12:08 AM

Since Jokinen moved to wing late last week he's been one of the Canes best players. Trading him would create a significant hole in the lineup. I can't imagine they would be looking to deal him at this point unless it was for a good d-man or another top-6 type forward.

:handclap:

TK and JStaal reuniting could definitely bring TK back to his game.

Will Hunting 03-07-2013 06:11 AM

Shero and Rutherford have good connections.

LaRose for TK really makes sense as both guys are struggling now. TK definitely could find his game with J.Staal, they´ve had too much chemistry. Kennedy is lost without him and immediately became a whipping boy in Pittsburgh. I wonder what´s up with LaRose?

Canes' bottom 6 has been kind of a disaster this season. He's been shuffled all over the lineup and IMO didn't really get his legs under him until the last couple weeks. Got put on the second line and the second power play unit and generated some nice chances but just doesn't have the luck this year. Now he's hurt for the last couple games.

The Hurricanes have a real 1st line RW, so he's not mooching points off Eric Staal anymore.

Mike Farkas 03-07-2013 08:26 AM

Penguins fans hate Kennedy...want Larose? The grass is always greener...
