Vancouver + Florida (No Goalies)

Florida
Mason Raymond
2nd Round Pick

Vancouver
Marcel Goc
Mike Weaver

(then move Ballard at the deadline, and re-unite Garrison/Weaver)

This would give Vancouver 6 players acquired from the Panthers on their active roster.

So when Vancouver goes on a deep playoff run, Florida gets 1/3 of the credit for vicariously achieving post season success.

(But in all seriousness I want these players)

Wizeman* 03-08-2013 01:19 PM

After seeing how much Micheal Grabner wanted to play in Florida, I doubt he goes through it again with a UFA Raymond.

I want to keep Raymond anyways. I would love to pry Goc out of Tallons hands but they would have to be his dead cold hands.

I don't claim to know a lot about Florida players until they are Canucks, but I feel like with the emergence of Huberdeau, Bjugstad, and Shore, they could conceivably move a center
(although, they did lose Weiss so my logic could be totally off)/

Vankiller Whale 03-08-2013 02:10 PM

Huberdeau plays wing, and with Weiss injured I don't see Goc being available barring Gaustad-like overpayment.

I'd love to add him or Weaver, but right now I don't see what we could offer. I am also reluctant to trade Raymond right now.

Raymond has been playing solid, but we do have what I would consider an adequate replacement in Schroeder (who has played wing).

I figured Raymond + 2nd is a "Gaustad like overpayment"

Brooklanders* 03-08-2013 04:42 PM

Florida needs to say yes then sign Raymond

FrolikFan67 03-08-2013 05:18 PM

i like this, id probably do this as a panthers fan.

Seriously?

I live in Florida but have not watched Goc closely enough. I will go scout him . :yo:

Heres a pretty good article on Goc

Also a read on Garrison + Weaver

I would love to have Goc on this team but not at the cost of Raymond. I'd only be willing to give up futures and picks, not sure if Florida would accept.

What're you saying about Grabner?

Isn't it obvious? He didn't want to play for the team that waived him. That must explain why they waived him - attitude problems.

Lol, nicely done.

I'd probably do this deal, absolutely love Goc, though.

In all fairness, if we bring in Goc (and move Schroeder to the wing) we would end up with some sort of lineup along the lines of

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Booth Kesler Schroeder
Hansen Goc Higgins
Kassian Lapierre Weise/Pinnizotto

Hamhuis Bieksa
Edler Tanev
Garrison Weaver

dim jim 03-08-2013 06:56 PM

I'm so tempted to so this trade because of my love of Goc, but just not keen on moving Raymond. You can have Higgins+Rodin+2 nd though :naughty:

CanucksSayEh 03-08-2013 06:57 PM

Noooooooooo Raymond is awesome.

Kershaw 03-08-2013 06:58 PM

This would be great for Vancouver. Stacked defense. They get a reliable Panthers pairing that was solid for years.

Garrison-Weaver
Bieksa-Hamhuis
Edler-Tanev

Keep in mind, guys like Kassian, Schroeder and Jensen will be looking to fit into the top-6 next season which could make Raymond relatively expendable.

If we bring in Goc, it would likely bump Schroeder to the wing.

So our 2nd and 3rd lines could effectively be
Booth Kesler Schroeder
Hansen Goc Higgins

Bingo!

You spot Garrison PP time, and the odd offensive zone start with Edler.

Yeah I understand. But the fact Raymond's playing so well makes me reluctant to move him. On second thought I'd do it Raymond's a UFA at years end and may price his way out of Van. Goc and Weaver are such ideal pieces to this team, tbh they could be the difference between losing in the first round and making it to the finals. they're exactly what this team needs to beat a Chicago in the playoffs. Goc is the most underrated player in the league IMO.

I know Raymond + 2nd is a fairly steep price, but this addresses 2 of our biggest needs (without completely gutting our future/current roster).

Goc would give us what we've been missing since Malhotras injury.

Hansen Malhotra Torres / Hansen Goc Higgins

Either way it gives us a deadly 3rd line

TheBleedingEdge 03-08-2013 07:29 PM

Wow, we had Weaver before, he is ok nothing great. He is definatly not the "magic pill" to fix Garrison. Its coaching and Campbell thats the deal with serving it up for a big slapper.

Id rather fix Edler and find out what is wrong with his brain then make a trade and lose one of our only productive forwards that can also PK well too.

There needs to be a move made by Van for sure, they need a shake up and new blood but more Florida scraps are not going to do it.

PS. I do like Goc, he isnt a scrap but not productive enough to make a switch.

Smithson 03-08-2013 07:36 PM

Raymond has been one of Vancouvers better players this year IMO. Van doesnt do this.

ohnoeszz 03-08-2013 07:36 PM

I don't think the Panthers are going to move Goc for a UFA Raymond. Doesn't make any sense.

Schroeder or picks for Goc makes a bit more sense.

Agreed Goc is like pre eye injury Malhotra. Such an underrated player.
