THIS DATE IN FLYERS' HISTORY: March 9, 1972 -- Flyers 5 at Los Angeles 3
http://www.cyberpresse.ca/images/biz...bill-flett.jpg
Bill Flett stunned his former teammates in his return to Los Angeles with three goals in the third period and the Flyers skated to a 5-3 win. Flett asked to be traded from the Kings who fulfilled his wishes in January. The Kings led 2-1 with about nine minutes to play in the game but Flett (3-1-4) and Bobby Clarke (2-3-5) each recorded four points in a span of 3:31.

Flett, Clarke and Flett again scored within 40 seconds, the latter two goals came ten seconds apart, to give Philly a 4-2 lead. Flett completed his hat trick and thus became the first Flyers' player to score three goals in one period. Flett scored two PPGs in the third period, one four seconds into the PP and the other five seconds into the PP.

Because Kings' owner Jack Kent Cooke was so disgusted with Flett's performance, he demanded that Flett not be made one of the three post-game stars. Afterwards, Bobby Clarke gave Flett a spittoon with an inscription that read "Unspeakable Star of the Game."

Greaet GDT!

I sure hope this game isn't awful.

FlyersFan61290 03-08-2013 06:50 PM

Amazing GDT yet again MSE

Beef Invictus 03-08-2013 07:07 PM

Let's just get all of these out of the way now:

Coffe 03-08-2013 07:31 PM

I call your trio and raise with this:

No that is not just a viral video of two annoying babies "talking", that was a nationally televised commercial.

Also, Great GDT MSE!

Karma 03-08-2013 08:37 PM

I'm predicting a win.

SolidSnakeUS 03-08-2013 09:16 PM

Please god hope that Mez comes back for the game.

mantis toboggan 03-08-2013 10:48 PM

We got this!

Gert B Frobe 03-08-2013 11:56 PM

what happens if they roll over and get blown out?

I sure as hell don't want to see Terry Murray coaching in Philly again...

Flyerfan4life 03-09-2013 12:01 AM

this just has ugly written all over it..

but i guess i'll watch it happen nonetheless..

BleedOrange 03-09-2013 12:32 AM

boston is going to beat our *****..

El Dandy* 03-09-2013 01:52 AM

Lose today and we tank together for the remainder of the season.

StandingCow 03-09-2013 01:55 AM

Wonder what team is going to show up? The one that plays a few minutes each period... or the 60 minute one?

Both. Just one is the Flyers, and one is the Bruins.:sarcasm:

dats81 03-09-2013 02:20 AM

Boston beats the **** out of our team, Bryz is pulled and lost in the woods again, Lavi gets fired after the blowout loss,...the sky is falling

Ryker 03-09-2013 02:37 AM

I think we stand a good chance tomorrow, but Rinaldo is going to get clobbered either by Lucic or Thornton.

I'll be at work while this game is played. I'm hoping for a win, but I do that for EVERY game. Let's just hope the Flyers can score enough so they don't have to rely on their expert goaltending to get a w.

RespectTheGhost 03-09-2013 09:10 AM

It's going to be ugly today, Boston looks like a machine, I'm going to miss the game because of work might be a blessing in disguise

bennysflyers16 03-09-2013 09:20 AM

Bryz is already in the woods sadly.

Gonna pvr for a bit, don't think I can handle Edwards calling this live, he is gonna have a field day calling this sadly.

King Forsberg 03-09-2013 09:29 AM

Give em the Mez!

Prongo 03-09-2013 09:38 AM

Everytime I have a bad feeling about a game the Flyers come out and surprise me. Sometimes you can be the better team on the ice and still lose the game. My guess is Tukka is the reason Boston survives the day and comes away with a W. Hate the Bruins.

Colin226 03-09-2013 09:44 AM

Where's the spot to catch the game today in NJ (preferably Cherry Hill or slightly north of that)?

I've been to Dunleavy's in Hainesport but it was fairly empty for the Saturday season opener.. Just looking for good food and a good atmosphere while I wait for the gf to get off work

Bernie Parent 1974 03-09-2013 10:01 AM

any confirmation on the Flyers starter in goal ?
