Brian Boyle

Looks like to be on the outs with the Rangers. Would not be suprised if this is a player Mike Gillis would inquire about prior to deadline.

Crafton 03-08-2013 07:42 PM

if Mike Gillis likes giant marshmallows...

This. Don't let the size fool you. He's not physical at all.

Krampus 03-08-2013 09:19 PM

Play him for 10 minutes, and he will kill your offense for all 60

CN_paladin 03-09-2013 01:12 AM

Is he that soft? I recall seeing him hitting all the time.

Machinehead 03-09-2013 01:14 AM

Can Gillis get every member of HFNYR a signed puck from Manny Malhotra?

That would be enough, I think.

Kershaw 03-09-2013 01:15 AM

We'd like at least a 3rd liner in return.

He has been pretty uninspired and slow this season.

When he's on his game, he's a hard-nosed 3rd line center that will chip in with about 10 goals, but he's been struggling all year. I don't know if it's because of the lockout and his lack of conditioning, or if he's just not putting in the effort - either way, he has been ghastly this year, coming from one of his biggest supporters over the past 3 seasons.

Rangers fans have gotten on him heavily, and rightly so. Honestly, though, I don't think I'd trade him at this point. If I were the Rangers, I'd keep him on the 4th line, give him the summer to try and get into better shape, and give him one more chance, because, if he does start playing like he is capable of, the Rangers will have great depth at center moving forward. He's still only 28 years old.

The Oilers should be all over Boyle if he's available. Would Belanger + work for the Rangers?

belair 03-09-2013 03:34 AM

Saw this guy play vs Boston a few years back and he must've drew 3 or 4 penalties in that game on his own.

The Oilers would take a shot at him if Tambellini is half awake.

No. I was looking at the Oilers board earlier and he was being discussed as a potential amnesty buyout.

Would have to be Ryan Jones coming back.

Straight up? I'd hate to part with Jones, but we could really use some help down the middle. I'd do it if I had to but reluctantly. Buying out Belanger would be foolish, while he brings no offense he's good on draws and on the PK, some team could use that at his cap hit.

Would definitely do that straight up. Gives the Rangers a solid 3rd line LW. Jones/Miller/Callahan sounds like a tenacious line to me.

We'd be robbing Peter to pay Paul, dealing one of our very few quality bottom 6 players for another. How about Ryan Smyth instead? :naughty:

GarretJoseph* 03-09-2013 04:31 AM

Keep Boyle for the 4th line. Pick up a bottom six for a draft pick.

KEEROLE Vatanen 03-09-2013 04:33 AM

Bring him to Anaheim we could use more size and faceoff ability in our bottom 6

It may , they make around the same w 1 yr left on deals, preferably they save a little salary for next yr. a ufa C and mid round pick for example. Jt miller is next yrs 3rd line c most likely, he can play wing too though

So looking at jones as a ufa and a pick may wrong. Miller could play C and they could get a rental C later

Rupp for powe type of deal which saved 500k on next yrs cap

Vitto79 03-09-2013 07:57 AM

Boyle for Bouchard(UFA) ?

in the Wild dog house

Boyle is a solid player. It is obvious though he is lacking confidence. TBH I think losing Prust hurt him a bit. They were ALWAYS on the same line, had great chemistry together and were very good buddies off the ice AFAIK.

Seatoo 03-09-2013 09:51 AM

I'd do Raymond straight up or Higgins and a low pick. Or prospect and a 3rd

Guilliam 03-09-2013 10:19 AM

Reunite him with Prust on the Habs, moveWhite to right wing. What would we need to add to Nokelainen to get him?

Edit : or Armstrong instead of Nokie?

Vladdy84 03-09-2013 10:23 AM

Justin Abdelkader for Boyle.

Boom Boom Geoffrion* 03-09-2013 10:30 AM

Boyle's value on this team is greater than what teams would be willing to give up for him.

Want Boyle? Make us an offer we can't refuse. So far in this thread, there isn't that much of an incentive. He's not being moved for a third round and a decent prospect.

Lol well the OP says he is on the outs and your saying he is still values from the Rangers which is it?

I believe he is still signed next year as well at 1.7mill.

He was a healthy scratch last night. He has played 19 games and produced 1 assist. Tortarella has publicly stated he is not happy with Boyles play this season. Here are the facts, was curious about value, sounds like Ranger fans are still high on him.
