OT-Hockey East

This is one of the most exciting seasons I can remember for Hockey East. There is great parity between at least 6 teams. The UNH-Maine game tonight was classic, and Providence has been on fire of late beating BC and Umass-Lowell in their last two games. There is a lot of talent and fierce competition this year in HE. It's great to see teams other than BC and BU being the clear cut favorites.

Who do you think wins the league? Who do you want to win?

Here are the current standings.

Loving what the Friars are doing. They are going to be strong for a few years. Just wish they'd been more consistent to start the year.

My daughter was playing in the pep band at the UNH game. I only caught the third period, and was sad that UNH lost-but Maine played a really good game and their goalie made some key stops.

The second of the UNH/Maine games are supposed to be on NESN tomorrow after the Bruins game ends.

Hoping UNH comes back to win that one.

Shocked that Maine will be in the playoffs after the way they started. They're one of the hotter teams in the conference right now, they're going to give the number 1 seed some troubles I think.

Seeding is tight this year, when you consider how close the top 5 teams are in points. A UNH win tonight would have put them on top, but instead if they don't win tomorrow, they might end up without home ice advantage.

Glad to see Verses intends to show some of the playoff games. College hockey doesn't always get much attention.

Merrimack is my alma mater. I havent watched any games this year, but my F/B feed was lit up last night with fans and OT.

Looks like they didnt do as well this year.

I went to UVM class of 07. I remember Victor Stahlberg being in one of my classes. My favorite player was Tori Mitchell. Too bad Joe Fallon never made it to the NHL

Patrice37 03-09-2013 09:06 AM

I'm graduating from Providence in May, it has been a fun year for Friar hockey that's for sure. Looking forward to the tournament

So happy to see teams other than BC/BU

EvilElf63 03-09-2013 09:14 AM

I don't go to UVM, but a school 5 miles away. I've been to a fair share of their games, so I guess I'm rooting for them.

I remember Fallon as being one of the best goalies in Hockey East, was drafted by the Black Hawks and looked like the next Tim Thomas coming out of UVM. Check out his GAA in college. However it looks like he's been quite the journey man in the ECHL and AHL

Tonight's BC Vs. UVM game will be streamed on http://www.nsnsports.net/ @ 7 tonight for anyone interested.

I grew up in the Burlington area so I'm hoping that the Cats can do a little damage in the playoffs.

Only three points from first :)

UNH finally is going to be threatening the tourney this year. They struggled out of the game last night against Maine, but it's been a hell of a season to enjoy.

TCL40 03-09-2013 02:49 PM

UNH game starts in 10 minutes. Hoping UNH wins.

Like. Last night's game they didn't look as good as they can. Some uncharacteristic gaffs in the first period which has been their strong suit this year. Goumas with two goals tonight:yo:

TCL40 03-09-2013 03:13 PM

Don't care who score, just want Maine to lose.

Great stuff, thanks for the link. Go Cats Go!!!

TCL40 03-09-2013 03:28 PM

Goumas is flying all over the ice. Hope he scores.

I can occassionally hear the various UNH anti Maine cheers.

Ratty 03-09-2013 04:40 PM

Pulling for the Eagles to repeat. But I shouldn't be so greedy :), what with three national titles in the last four.

Great to see the HE competition with Lowell, PC in the mix. Looking forward to the playoffs . College hockey rocks!

TCL40 03-09-2013 05:47 PM

I generally pull for whoever is playing BC.

The UNH/Maine game was close-Maine is going to be a good team in a couple of years if their core group of freshmen stick around.

UNH has home ice. I got to see my daughter on TV several times (pep band) and UNH has home ice for the first round of the tournament.

I think there could be several possible upsets in the tournament this year. Very close in Hockey East this year.

Jack Parker to announce his retirement on monday.... WOW, 40 years on the job.

ez42x10 03-10-2013 05:59 PM

Go Huskies! Oh, wait...

Also, as much pain as he's caused me, I'm still sad to see Jack Parker hanging it up.

nifty988 03-10-2013 06:09 PM

Wow. The end of an era. Jack Parker is a legend in these parts. Not too many people have done more for New England hockey as the great BU coach. Thank you for 40 years of service and for the memories, sir! :handclap:
